With your support we will release Melt’s LP Repossession Blues on 12” vinyl record, CD, and digital formats.
The Melt Story
Formed in in Charlotte in 2013, Melt originally began as a solo project of songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Phil Pucci. Two of Pucci’s lifelong friends, David Scanlon on bass and Alex Smith on drums, rounded out the band.
Melt has been playing shows and writing music for over a year and a half, and we’re excited to help them release their debut album! Their sound has been compared to R.E.M., Galaxie 500, and Real Estate.
The guys in Melt are great members of the North Carolina music community. Phil Pucci has worked tirelessly to put on several Reverb Fests: One day music festivals that support charities. Their support of the community fits with our own vision and ideals.
Melt has refined their songwriting and live performances by playing over 30 shows, primarily in Charlotte. Having CDs, vinyl records, and t-shirts will help Melt support themselves on their upcoming first tour.
The Croquet Records Story
Inspired by the young bands playing Charlotte’s underground independent music scene, musician and photographer James Willamor formed the vision of a volunteer-run nonprofit record label in early 2014.
James assembled a volunteer board of directors that have years of experience not just in the music industry, but also in journalism, PR, and new media.
After months of hard work and late nights, and with the assistance of Charlotte School of Law, Croquet Records incorporated and received status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization!
Croquet Records is focused on new and emerging bands and songwriters in North Carolina that need help releasing their first project. What makes us different is our artists retain all rights to their original music, never sign an exclusive contract, and we hope to see them graduate from us to a larger label.
We're working on building a community of supporters and establishing our credibility so we can appeal to larger arts funding organizations in the future. Our goal is to have diverse and sustainable sources of funding in place by year two, but to get there we need to successfully complete our first project!
That’s where you come in – we’re taking a step of faith and trusting our community will catch us. We're proposing a modest Kickstarter goal of $5,000 to produce this album. This will cover everything from mastering the album to pressing vinyl records; check the description below for a detailed budget.
We’ve put a lot of thought into the Kickstarter rewards and any support will is graciously accepted.
We’re focused on helping to make North Carolina’s independent music scene into one that’s just as good as you will find anywhere in the country, but to get there we need to complete our very first project – Repossession Blues by Melt!
We need to raise $5,000 to release Repossession Blues on 12” vinyl record, CD, and digital platforms. We made sure to factor in 10% to 15% extra to cover any cost overruns.

Risks and challenges
The songs are already written and recorded, with just a few mixing adjustments needed that should be complete by the time the Kickstarter campaign ends. We will then be ready to send the album to the mastering engineer!
The biggest challenge is the time. We are eager to release the project as soon as possible but realize that vinyl record pressing process is time consuming, and can take two to three months. If there are any delays getting the records from the plant, we'll let backers know as soon as possible.
We have a talented and experience board of directors in place and have received much guidance and support from our North Carolina music community and are confident in our ability to see this project though completion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
