A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Keeping your visor clear when riding normally involves stopping at a safe place and producing cleaning equipment that has been stored away somewhere on your person / bike.
BikeJet is the only "fit and forget" visor cleaning device that allows you to clear your visor safely of any accumulated dirt and bugs on the move. A quick squirt followed by a wipe of the supplied glove finger wiper and you have clear vision again.
> No need to stop
> No need to keep cleaning products on you or the bike
> Gives clear vision instantly if your visor is impaired through muck / dust / bugs
In the summer months BikeJet will power through the bug splats (that would normally smear using a glove wiper on its own!) with ease.
In winter it will wash away the almost opaque salt and road spray that smears across your visor.
BikeJet makes scheduled cleaning of your helmet far easier, suit up, get on the bike and clean your visor on the go.
Our chemical free visor cleaning solution for use in BikeJet has a freezing point between -4 and -7 degrees celcius. Whilst still being harmless if sprayed on clothes / skin / eyes / mouth.
BikeJet already has the trademarks in place and is currently Patent Pending.
It's simple and it works. But dont take our word for it, we asked a well known motorcycle blogger to review our prototype, no holds barred - we just wanted to know what he thought. See what Armchairbiker had to say about it after he travelled over 1k miles with BikeJet!
Funding wise, we have everything set up ready to go with our 3D printing route, but if we can get over and above our target here - then we can pay for a UK injection moulding process which will make things far slicker and easier to mass produce BikeJet.
Kickstarter is just the start of the journey, we do have other finance streams to investigate after the campaign completes.
Risks and challenges
I have a background in electrical and mechanical engineering. I have also been self employed successfully for over 6 years via my IT consulting Ltd company.
BikeJet has provided many unforeseen problems that required specialist knowledge to overcome - It's not as simple as sticking a nozzle on a water container - despite what some may say :0)
There has been - Chemical analysis / Fluid dynamics / Physics / Air flow dynamics / CAD / 3D Printing / Flow rate problems / Mounting issues to name but a few!
Its been an exciting development journey.
BikeJet will be produced and assembled in the UK.
