As a frequent traveler, I want all my gadgets and devices to have the same system. Even though not all devices are as slim as credit cards, I still like the minimalistic and elegant dimension. There are so many reasons and advantages for adopting the credit card dimension; handy, stackable, compact...the list goes on. That's why we develop products in this dimension.
Most adapters you find in the market are way too bulky for travelers. Not only are they heavy to carry around but they occupy too much space in your luggage as well. The bulky size makes you rather just leave them at home.
About Type C PD
USB Type-C is the new USB interface. Compared to the original USB, the structure of the connector does not only transcend it to a whole new level (such as double sided insertion design, concrete structure, and the petite size), but also enhanced the current carrying capacity (from 5V/20V to 100W). Therefore, Type-C is compatible with the standard converter for charging a laptop. Besides MacBook, many other brands are still developing Type-C as their main charging port. In other words, the new era is coming. We are now able to charge both laptop and phone with the same specification. However, many claimed that Type-C products are not able to deliver such high current to charge Laptop. They are under the 5V/2-3A, you can barely turn on the laptop with such low power. Hence, the abundance of power available is sufficient for a qualified Type-C charger. And that’s what is classified as a TURE USB Type-C port.
Meet Card Adapter
After extensive researching and testing, we gathered your feedback and proposed a new upgraded adapter. We have gone through multople adjusting prototype validation processes. Finally we present to you another unique design apart from other types of product. We hope that the new design will be upgrade your charging experience to another level for more applications.
Ultra Low Profile
Most adapters are produced based on the plug converter. Therefore, they would generally be much thicker than the original socket. When the adapter is plugged into the wall socket, the bulky size would cause it to slant and even drop to the ground due to the weight. There're some physical limits for adapter designing. Take size as an example, a qualified adapter should be compatible with the lengths of all types of plug. Since the UK plug has the longest pin(21.4mm) among all types of plug, the maximum thickness of a universal adapter should be 21.4mm.
To achieve the ultra slim size, a foldable plug is the best solution. When it comes to foldable plug, it’s relatively common for the US plug but not the UK/EU/AU plug. Hence, our goal is to fit all types of plugs in the limited space neatly without adding on to the thickness.
Compare with the foldable plug design, design the socket is easier. However, we still did our very best to minimize and keep it efficient for you. We designed the crucial space on the outside not just because the earth wires do not come with all kinds of adapters but the main purpose of the adapter is designed for traveling. In other words, you won't need to use devices with high currents like the fridge or washing machine. Moreover, we have placed a 6.3 mA fuse to protect these electrical devices.
Just like our main design concept, we've designed CARD adapter to be in this elegant dimension of a credit card. Although it’s not as slim as a card, its shape allows it to be stored in a systematically staggered way. When you put the CARD Adapter in your luggage, you'll realize how little space it occupies. And this, is the spirit of CARD.
CA4 pro support new MacBook and new MacBook pro(13/15").
CARD Adapter 4 is sustainable for 45W(30W+15W). 30W of the total 45W is able to provide directly to Type-C PD. The variety sets that the Type-C provides are able to be compatible with most PD coverage. 45W=30W +15W 30W for Type-C→ 15Vx2A / 12Vx2A / 9Vx3A / 5Vx3A
Besides the 30W for PD, CARD Adapter pro also provides 3 USB ports. (5V share 3A/ 5Vx3A=15W) These three USB ports are able to supply power to every of your mobile device (like phone, tablet, and other USB devices). No more bulky power banks.
Every CARD Adapter is designed with 6.3mA fuse to protect user under a safe current surrounding. Once it’s overloading or goes under the prompt massive current, the fuse would be broken to protect your own safety. We also designed another spare fuse on the other side of the lid. Before CARD Adapter 4 with Type-C was released, we had successfully introduced CA1/CA2/CA4. They are all based on the same design philosophy with a slim profile and foldable plug. The only differences are the current carrying capacity and the number of USB ports.

Risks and challenges
Due to the particularly small size of the CARD Generator and CARD Storagel, we had to design and build customised components and figure out ways to integrate everything to optimise the design.
To minimize the defection ratio during mass production upon successful Kickstarter campaign will require high skills and immense patience. We have done the EVT and moving on to the DVT and PVT now. Our team has a very strong background for design for manufacturing. We have the parts sourcing, manufacturing flow and testing procedures well defined.
