12 actors in 'Dead Exit: The Graphic Novel'
Cast of 12 includes AMC TV 'Making of the Mob' star Rich Graff, Tony Denison of TNT's "Major Crimes", Warner Bros. Records Nina Bergman, rocker-actress Roxy Saint, Ernesto Nodal and ... YOU!
PROJECT GOAL - $25,000
WHAT WE ARE FUNDING FOR * Printing & U.S.-shipping 2,500 128-page paperback books * 1 Digital version production * Artists' fees * CineCon Kickstarter edition coin * ISBNs/Bar Code * Miscellaneous advertising * Kickstarter’s 8% (5% + 3) fee + .3 per transaction * Taxes: U.S. Federal Tax, State tax.
Extensive research was done beforehand to secure quality items at great quotes on printing and coin manufacture. After receiving funding, our vendors will be contacted. Our artists will begin full production.
The paperback and digital versions will be coordinated for a targeted June 2017 release. (It takes a bit for an artist to draw!) We will update regularly on our web site, Facebook and Twitter accounts the progress made to assure backers of our progress.
When the books are shipped, you'll get to see video of that operation. We will assemble a packing team to pack U.S. orders and blog/vlog about the journey to the U.S. Post Office. If you're in the area, stop by and join the 'packing party'!
Risks and challenges
A normal retail price for a graphic novel this length is $15. We are including shipping because we want it shipped ASAP to you - and being a direct-to-you campaign, the book won't be normally available to you at a brick-and-mortar store. This the BEST way to get DEAD EXIT.
In the 'risks and challenges' section here, a way to spur us on to excellence is the fact that 12 actors have lent their name to the project.
I don't want to let down the backer/reader and I don't want to let down my cast. I want everyone to look back and feel this was worth being a part of. I want you, as the backer, to say, 'Great job! What's your next book and when can I get it?'
That's why we need your help. Regular distribution (such as in stores) makes it 'logistically tough' for an indie publisher to distribute. That's the beauty of Kickstarter...help fund it, we make it, you get it. Simple.
Our core creative team is another way to ensure professionalism. Here's a look at our official bios...
DOUG SHILOH, an internationally-published American writer whose first novel POOKOO won praise and over 6,000 digital downloads. When he was a college student, Doug was a Manuscript Contributor at the prestigious Bread Loaf Writers' Conference at Middlebury College. He worked for a Gannet-owned newspaper, moved to Chicago and became a proofreader. He continued in the pre-press field before turning to the Education field. In between that, he produced celebrity and expert cyber-chat events on AOL in the mid-90s. Guests included Lt. Col. Fred Olivi, co-pilot on the Nagasaki atomic bomb mission, Rudolph Grey (whose book was the basis of the Johnny Depp movie ED WOOD) and the curator of the Houdini Historical Center on the 70th anniversary of Houdini's death.
As for the layout production of the book, color work and design, PETE KNIPSCHIELD has been in the Pre-Press business for over 25 years. His work on NBA legend MICHAEL JORDAN's book FOR LOVE OF THE GAME garnered a 'thank you' in the book's credits. (Look it up!) Pete's task was to take the designer's vision and make it 'press-ready.' That's what he'll bring to the table with DEAD EXIT.
Our hope is that this "Team Effort" will overcome any risks and challenges and give YOU, THE BACKER - confidence in being a part of bringing DEAD EXIT to life...Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
