Do you know the feeling and fresh smell of newly washed bed linen? We want to keep that feeling!
Our goal is to re-think and transform traditional bed linen into something that fits modern-day society. We think that it is possible to make bed linen functional without compromising on design.
Dawn Nights - Always fresh bed linen
We introduce Dawn Nights. Bed linen that stays fresh and you do not have to wash it that often. Our bed linen is treated with Polygiene® using a low concentration of recycled silver chloride, which is naturally present in water and soil. The treatment is Bluesign® approved, which means it meets rigorous independent environmental and product life cycle standards. Polygiene® is applied in the last stages of the production, and is only active on the textile itself and interfere with your natural skin flora.
The Polygiene® reduce odor-causing bacteria giving you a comfortable and healthy sleep. Our bed linen reduces the bacteria that cause odor and eventually damages your skin and health, making your bed linen stay fresh for longer. By keeping your bed linen bacteria free you do not have to wash it that often and therefore save the planet, by using less water resources. Research has shown that two-thirds of a products environmental impact happens in the consumer period by washing and drying.
We made a bed linen that symbolizes our values and personalities - three guys that love quality, simple design and being in nature. Therefore our bed linen is made of 100% organic cotton, Oeko-Tex certified and with a 200 thread count.
Our bed linen is stonewashed with a percale weave that gives the bed linen a crisp and lively look. The fabric becomes soft and makes the bedlinen light and breathable. The design is inspired by Nordic nature and a minimalistic way of thought, to make a bed linen that has a timeless design and will last longer than most. Initially, Dawn Nights come in two colorways - a broken white and a blue inspired by the coastline around Denmark.
Packaging - Reusable tote bag
To reduce the waste after producing our bed linen we have used the leftovers to create a tote bag. It will function as packaging and you can use it afterward for carrying things while on the move.
Which size to choose?
Production in Portugal
Our products are produced in Portugal by our supplier that has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing textile products. They have a sense for traditional handcraft and dedicated quality control, which makes them able to create high standard products.
We have visited the factory two times to control the quality and conditions for the workers. All the process from spinning the yarn to the finishing details and the Polygiene® treatment has been centered near the supplier to reduce transportation and the pollution from logistics.
We are Dawn Designs. Three guys Rasmus, Thomas and Tjelle from Aarhus in Denmark with an urge to create something functional and sustainable that can help the everyday life. So we sat down, focused and went through our daily schedules and chores to see where problems arose. What is the first thing we do? We wake up in our bed and... Our creative process stopped right there.
The bed is actually a big problem, and it gives birth to bacteria and swamps. Dermatologist advise you to wash your bedlinen every 14th day, which actually does not sound that difficult. But to be honest, how many of us actually do that? We did not, but now we wanted to change it. We contacted experts to hear about different ways to make the bed a fresh and clean place to sleep. We did not want anything chemical, but a natural way that would not harm our human body or the planet we live on. One day we heard about the ancient way of using silver because of its antibacterial and heat-regulating function, and after some research, we finally found the way to keep bed linen fresh by using recycled silver chloride.
What is next?
After traveling to Portugal, discussing details with our supplier, we have now received our first samples of the products. Actually, we only need one more thing - your help! Help us creating a fresh and sustainable way of sleeping by funding this project.
Stay tuned. Stay fresh.
Risks and challenges
We have done a lot of research over the last year and have close cooperation with our experienced supplier. We have been talking to several previous project owners, which have given us a lot of advice, what we need to do to make a successful Kickstarter campaign.
The technology is well documented, and we know that you backers will like our product. But the thing we are mostly sure about is that this project has to be run by us. A passionate and ambitious team of guys, who are willing to work very hard for this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
