Resurrecting the spirit of American watchmaking both figuratively and literally. Making a 100% American made watch we start to refill the giant shoes of our forefathers. Using 100 year old pocket watch movements we pick some of the best created in our country and display their glorious nature.
We bring these amazing pieces of history back to life in our new watch line Arcane. Rather than hide them away we feature them through a solid sapphire case back with the option to wear them movement side up as fine art.
Being from the Northwest recycling is a big part of our culture. To embrace this, along with the movements being brought forward in time our cases are milled from recycled aircraft titanium. These come with your choice of the watch roll or five watch box. Ask about our limited production display case built entirely of salvaged and recycled construction material.
Fine time pieces should be accompanied by fine timekeeping, we make sure your watch, while having origins from 100 years ago, has the advantages of our years of experience to make them compete with modern marvels.
Our experience servicing all levels of brands has given us a lot of insight towards manufacturing mistakes and design flaws. We apply that knowledge to your new Arcane watch. Included in these considerations are a mono-block construction for the case, a beefy crown assembly unlikely ever to be damaged by impact, a 1:30 crown for the comfort of the wearer, and interchangeable lugs for ease of future repair and refinish.
We are asking the collectors out there to look closely and see the prestige that our country held in the watchmaking world and help us bring "it" back.
We encourage the enthusiasts to reach up and grab one of our watches and experience modern engineering and technology merged with the history of master watchmaking.
Kickstarter and its community offer a perfect pairing for our fully customizeable line of watches. With our technique for creating in-house dial designs and coloring options you get to choose the parts you like most and have us create your dream watch.
We are an experienced company and have incredible customer support in making this step from repair to creation. From supporters, we are looking for the volume needed to make these watches at an economical level. We want to know you want our watches enough for us to spend the time and energy it takes to make a truly great timepiece.
With 2 locations we have ample resources to pull this off. And we have put immense amounts of time and research into these watches and the infrastructure needed to manufacture the parts both in-house and with our US partners.
Our flagship store in Bellevue Washington also houses our repair shop that rivals any major manufacturer for both technology and expertise. We combine this with the passion and desire needed to bring a project like this to fruition. With these and your commitment we will be "making history" for years to come.
It is with these facilities and modern listening technology that we approach the idea of making these 100 year old movements show off their fantastic design and fabrication. We have taken one of these to .3 seconds per day with a delta of 8 secs between all 6 positions.
This is all about the demonstration of the quality that came from the US in its prime. At that point in history we were the #1 manufacturer of watches in the world. We look to not only educate our consumers about our role in the history of watchmaking but also to bring this bit of history forward to the 21st century.
Our watches symbolize the achievements we have made as a country through the recycled aircraft titanium, the aerospace machining techniques, and the cutting edge technology to make this one of the finest time pieces you own. You won't be able to keep from showing it off and luckily for you it does that relatively all on its own. From the bold colors to the unique placement of the crown at 1:30 and sub dial at 7:30, from the quadruple sunk dial to the pillow finished titanium hands.
These options give you just a glimpse inside of our bespoke watches. You will be able to choose the coloring for the casing, the dials, and the hands. In some instances we will offer dual tone or even triple colored options on the same watch. You also get to determine the detail of the dial design and the minute track format. Notice the 60 second Montgomery minute track and the dual tone browns with teal numbering.
This is also a good example of the larger lug size available to those with bigger wrists. If you have a 7 and 3/4 inch wrist and it is relatively wide this is a better fit and allows regular length straps to fit you just right. The handmade USA straps are offered shorter for the smaller wrist sizes since a regular length strap with our lug design will fit some of the largest wrists. We help you make all of these choices with our customizer program that will be available before the end of the campaign. Here is a group of designs made using the optimizer in Photoshop. These are color overlays of the #1 prototype in blue.

Risks and challenges
We have addressed most of the issues of preproduction that we see people run into with their kickstarter campaigns. This project has been in the works for the last three years and we did not list this campaign until we had eliminated all the issues that could sideline the endeavor. All our partners are more than capable of delivering on the quality and quantities needed. We have manpower to accommodate expected volume and will add more watchmakers if needed to minimize the time extension common of high volumes.
The prototyping while expensive, we feel was a necessary step prior to the campaign. Watching projects fail or have extreme time extensions due to short sightedness or improper expectation is hard.
We took our time with each step of the process and have gathered all the elements needed to create a 100% american made watch that can compete with finer timepieces on the market.
While looking into machine shops we had to go though quite a few to find one capable of the tolerances necessary for watch making and able to mill the unique parts of our casing and then had to go through several more to find one willing to take on a smaller job of short run for prototyping. Each portion of our watch including the display case required many hours in both imagineering & design stages.
The challenge of finding knowledgeable 3d CAD talent had a very severe set back to our initial time frames. Had we launched only having made the initial prototype from 2d sketches we would have seen issues and time delays experienced by many projects that often create budget overruns thereby ending the project.
The number one question I get asked is, "how long can you sustain making Arcane watches if they are based on antique movements won't the parts and the movements dry up?" This is a great question and was one of the first items I addressed in my process. We currently have hundreds of the 405 caliber based movements. And have several hundred of the movements intended for the 2nd and third generations of this series.
Illinois Watch Company over 15 years made approximately 400,000 of the various models based on the 405 caliber. these have not typically been thrown away but are in collectors caches or in grandpa's drawer and are often put up for sale as they are handed down. With few collectors and almost no wearers, pocket watches have little use in their current state and by picking the models we have we are able restore them beyond the level of when they were first made. We often polish parts that never originally were for either aesthetic or functional improvement. We time out these in 6 positions with significant dedication to adjusting down to expectations of modern mechanicals.
We have sourced a large amount of NOS staffs and mainsprings for these movements since these were produced in volume and pocket watches were starting to be phased out within a short time after these were manufactured. There is a relatively good supply of NOS parts at the individual supply houses around the states you just need to hunt for it.
Having current sources of income in our repair business has allowed us to survive all these steps required to be here today for your viewing pleasure.
