Help Us Film "CADETS: USS Missouri"
What do you do with a boatload of kids in deep space when war suddenly erupts? Kick some ass with a relic out of mothballs!
We are raising these funds to help us offset the costs of preproduction of CADETS: USS Missouri. This project is a personal goal to bring the story of a future version of the Naval Sea Cadets that shows that our children will be a group of strong and disciplined individuals and will promote men and women working side by side in all roles. From a female Chief of Naval Operations to the female Executive Officer of the Missouri, we hope to use this film as a platform to show gender roles are obsolete and need to be updated. Costs to travel for location, auditions, actor contract signing, permits and licenses are mounting and we are hoping to receive support from like minded individuals who wish to see a project such as this make it to the big screen. This project will reach out for women's rights, that our children do have a future and that ALL communities will be part of our future. CADETS is a future of hope while fighting incredible odds. A retired battleship, a crew of mostly cadets overcoming the obstacles on a journey of discovery defending their worlds against a malicious enemy.
We already have Tracee Lee Cocco (ST:TNG, First Contact, Night Mistress) on board as Master Gunnery Sergeant Andrea Eldridge, a strong, no nonsense senior NCO who is openly lesbian and is committed to bringing the best out of her charges!
The talented new actress Nia Agan (Academy Earth Radio Drama, CADETS: USS Missouri) who suffers from Gastroparesis. Nia will be bringing her talents to show someone with a chronic illness will not hinder someone from reaching their goals (we have written Nia's Gastroparesis into the script for her character)!
The talented and lovely teen actress Jessi Casey will be playing one of the youngest cadets on board but through skill, talent and drive is the acting communications officer on the bridge during Alpha shift!
We are in talks with other actors/actresses from Star Trek fame, Night Mistress and other great talents from TV and the big screen!
Risks and challenges
This is a film Hollywood and others don't want made.......While many speak their support of inclusiveness very few actually put those words into action. Independent Film is giving a voice to everyone and we want to break down the final barriers in this groundbreaking enterprise!
We need your support to bring this story to fruition, no more no less to break the cycle of elitism. Our major challenges are going to be funding and budget since most of the avenues for film financing will be closed to us due to our concept and goals, they will ask for 'oversight' and 'editing' in exchange for money, we refuse to give up our creative process to others that want to change our message.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
