Imagining Monsters is a book that is meant to capture the hearts of not only children but adults with it's artwork and it's story in poem form. A book that can be read more than once with continued smiles for every one in the family. I miss the books that rhyme, have compelling illustrations and have characters that you fall in love with. It seems that lately I come across children's books that lack all these elements. Focusing mainly on passing the time and the use of words rather than being enjoyable.
I wanted to create an every day hero for the readers.. A level of hero that maybe obtainable for the reader if they find them selves scared in the dark. Imagining Monsters is a story about Daven an every day little boy that finds a way to conquer one of the many every day challenges that children may face and relate to.

This is a example of the key chains that I will be making. This is the first run! As we get closer to the goal I will post new key chains so people can pick which one they like. I modeled the shadow creature out of clay and then molded it with silicone. The final product as seen here is Black Onyx Plastic. Its super cute in person, my baby keeps stealing it from me. LOL

I have already printed out a few to color with my baby but she seems to want to eat the crayon more than color... :P

Where is the Money Going?
About DeadOn Studios and My self
I have been drawing long before my fist memories, showing passion and a love for art very early on. I have known since I was very little that I wanted to be a successful artist. My passion led me to graduate college with a BA in Media Arts and Animation. I have been working as a freelance artist for over 5 years now. I have worked as a Concept Artist, Art Director, 2D Animation, Graphic Designer, 3D Modeler, and Illustrator. While I have had creative positions since before and after graduation, I have had to work full time in retail since freelance jobs were very unstable.
This year, since the birth of my baby, it has thrown me in to overdrive to get my studio up and running DeadOn Studios llc. Which is one of my life goals to run my own creative agency to create the many stories that I have dream-pt up. I have had a few clients, but it really is off to a hard start. However many great companies start this way. That's why I am on KICKSTARTER this is my gamble, to make or break not only this project, but for a new beginning for my studio.
I am very grateful to every one that pledges and makes this project successful. You're not only making this book a reality you are making my dreams come true and assisting in my families future. I have big dreams, bigger than this one bedroom apartment can contain. I am ready to share my characters and creations with the world.
Thank you KICKSTARTER!!!!
Risks and challenges
Marketing has definitely been the biggest challenge yet, I had no idea the kind of time and effort that went into building awareness.
As far as the book goes the biggest challenge will be bringing the idea of silhouettes of objects into the room of the character. The book is about having an overactive imagination changing things like a stack of laundry, or a box full of toys into scary creatures. Then later in the book using those same silhouettes to create funny or silly variations of those creatures.
I know that I am up for the challenge and am swimming with great ideas I can't wait to dive in. I love to grow as an artist and I use each new project as a way to push my self to better my artwork.
As a new mom I also have the challenge of balancing time between my baby girl Cari and creating illustrative masterpieces.
I am not sure how I will overcome this one, since motherhood is a new thing in it's self. However I have a great support in my fiance and her daddy Corey Gobbo.. :) I can't wait to finish this book with large smiles and one day read it to my little one. Then tell her about the success of a dream through the support of a community, to make her book come into reality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
