Ambush Platoon - Europe
A turn based strategy war game inspired by the board game Risk. The player must try to conquer Europe by managing his platoon.
Ambush Platoon is a turn based war game where you must command your platoon towards the conquest of Europe.
I was inspired to make this game by the board game Risk and also other war games such as Total Wars and Cannon Fodder. The goal is to conquer all territories or destroy all enemies. Each territory must be won in battle with your platoon which you will have to equip and give orders to. Every turn each army is rewarded by how many territories they have held and can invest into more soldiers or better weapons.
The main map contains over 1300 territories and will take some time to conquer. Therefore, a few mini maps will be available as well.
39 different platoons have been created to battle in a truly epic war. Many real-life military uniforms have been researched to obtain a more realistic result.
Each weapon type is good for a specific battle strategy.
To add to the strategic gameplay there will be these special types of soldiers/weapons. Dogs will be able to rush faster. Shields will add ultra defensive possiblities, and Medics will help revive fallen platoon members.
Each soldier in your platoon has a unique mood or strategy which will be customizable by the player just like the weapons.
Soldiers can be trained to become better and harder to kill
The map and the battle scenes are almost complete. Several minor detail such as weapons, more soldier skins and soldier moods still need to be perfected. Also, the map scene will contain important information such as platoon ranks.
- Several Battlegrounds with different vegetation and obstacles.
- Soldier Skins (each platoon should have at least 4 different soldier skins)
- Platoon Strategies - Aggressive, Moderate, Defensive
- Platoon Store where soldiers are recluted, equiped, trained and given strategic orders.
- AI to make strategies and equipt their platoons
- Small details in the Map Scene and in the battle scene such as platoon rankings and small animations.
- 8-Bit Music and sound effects
- Any Reward Weapons suggested by Hero backers
The game will be available for Windows, Mac and Linux
Risks and challenges
My main risks are probably that this is my first KickStarter and that I am a one man team and small tasks sometimes take longer than I expected. However, I have taken my time to plan the game design carefully. The foundation has been set to not have any problems creating new mini maps, save game files, and more. To back me up I have more than 2 years of experience building games and a Software Engineering Diploma.
