Rocking out this August at FringeNYC!
We have a cast!! Scroll down to meet them!!
Olympus Records ask the timeless question: What if the five heroes of Sophocles’ Greek Tragedies (Ajax, Antigone,Electra, Philoctetes, and Odysseus) were siblings, and in Sophocles, the biggest band of the 90’s? And then, what if that band…broke up?! As each hero strives to discover who they are without the band, they question Olympus Records and MuTV, the music industry that created them, while still using it to reach for the highest level of fame possible. With an all original score, we explore our morbid fascination with Celebrity Culture through the lens of Greek Tragedy…and the immortal sounds of Total Request Live!
What's the 411?
Olympus Records is a brand new musical that combines the plays of Sophocles with your 90s’s Pandora station. We’ve been has been accepted into the New York International Fringe Festival, which is really exciting! The festival August 8-24 in NYC, and we’ll have 5 performances within that time frame.
We think this show will do well with the Fringe’s adventurous audiences. If you grew up in the 90’s, or if you love theater, or if you just stayed awake in 9th grade English, this show is for you. We take these Sophoclean characters, created thousands of years ago, and throw them into that decade full of snap bracelets and SNICK.
This is OLYMPUS RECORDS’ first production. FringeNYC provides space to new works, which is a hard commodity to find when you’re a new voice trying to break into the theatrical conversation.
Show me the money!
A performance space is not the only thing that makes a project happen. There are sets to build, lights to design, costumes to create…and did you know you can only buy snap bracelets in cases no less than 50? Truth. And then, there are designers and actors to pay.
This is where you come in. We need your donations. Think of yourself as Cher Horowitz, and our budget as the Pismo Beach Disaster Relief (no kitchenware please).
Truly, any amount helps. If you look to the right side of your screen, you’ll see a “Back This Project” button, and beneath it, a list of Rewards. Click on “Back This Project” or any of the individual Rewards. You can donate as little as $1, and Rewards start at $10, and then just follow steps from there. It’s so easy! With just a couple clicks you will be helping bring this show to life! Aren’t you amazing!
I'm so scared...
Because Kickstarter is all or nothing. That means that if we don’t raise our $10,000 – we don’t get ANY of the money and this show will not get made. We need your support. Do you have friends who would like this? Spread the word! It’s all up to you. The power is yours!
Seriously, though, we need you, so thank you for anything you can do.
Who are you?

Risks and challenges
One inherent challenge we face with this show is that our two writers (Alex and Morgan) live in two different cities that are 1,451 miles apart (Oklahoma City and New York City).
As far as fundraising goes, we will have trouble organizing events that represent both of our support groups, and Kickstarter provides us with an easy, functional, and respected platform to raise these funds from people who are a part of all of our lives.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
