We know what a pain it can be to clean kids' cups, so we made sure all components of the Sip & Spin™ Cup come apart easily for cleaning and are dishwasher safe.
Snappy Straw™ Cup
The Snappy Straw™ Cup is a high-quality straw sippy cup that is quick to assemble and easy to clean. Simply unscrew the lid, pull out the straw, and place all 3 pieces in the dishwasher. All parts have great access for cleaning, so there are no small crevices or hidden compartments for bacteria to hide in. The valve-less straw means it gets cleaner in the dishwasher and is a snap to clean in the sink, too. The clear lid simulates an open cup, enabling the child to see the liquid and learn to drink to the bottom without the aid of a weighted straw.
Sip & Spin™ Straw
You can use the Sip & Spin™ Straw with regular drinking cups and glasses, so the “big kids” can join the fun. You should give it a try!
Use - Both straw cups are for ages 1 year to 100 (or more, we won’t tell). The stand-alone straws are great for the bigger kids, 3 years and up.

Here at nuSpin Kids, we have found a new way of thinking: start with a fun idea and its practical uses will follow. They say form follows function, and we have also found that function can follow fun. We focused on coming up with fun, creative ideas, tested them in our lab, and after many hours of prototyping, we had the makings of a fun and functional product. Our cup that started out as a toy turned into a great way to encourage kids to drink water and stay hydrated without resorting to sugary drinks.
We used our aerospace engineering background to develop a disc that spins powered only by the water being consumed. We put this spinning disc in the top of a quality straw cup, added some playful artwork, and the Sip & Spin™ Cup was born. Fun was integrated into the design from the beginning rather than added at the end, resulting in a high quality product we are proud to stand behind.
Over the last year, we have invested thousands of hours developing every detail of these products. We've surveyed and interviewed hundreds of parents and specialty retailers to capture the requirements and needs. We wanted to make sure that we offered the premier drinking cup in all categories, including quality, safety, functionality, and fun.
For example, we've conceived and tested many types of spinners to come up with the best design. The spinner should be easy to spin, clean, and assemble. Our early designs used an impulse momentum spinner (somewhat like a paddle wheel), but the paddles introduced many ridges that were difficult to clean out. Next, we considered various types of positive displacement spinner designs, including a gerotor spinner (somewhat like a rotary engine). This style also works, but introduces too many parts, and requires the dexterity of a master watchmaker to assemble. Finally, the "eureka" moment came when we conceived the disc spinner, a bladeless disc driven by fluid friction.
When fluid is drawn through the straw, it passes over and around the pinwheel disc. The friction between the moving fluid and the disc causes the disc to spin. It's as simple as possible, but no simpler.
We have two patents pending on these products. We've completed the development phase, and are now ready to move into the manufacturing phase.
We have teamed up with a manufacturer with extensive experience producing similar children’s products. Our next steps are to create the mold tooling and first articles. These first articles will be tested according to our qualification plan to ensure safety, function, and durability. After the product has met or exceeded all requirements, we will send samples to a CPSC accredited testing laboratory for final testing and approval. After approval, we'll begin production of your rewards.

Risks and challenges
We have spent over a year perfecting this design by utilizing analysis, testing, research, regulatory requirements, and industry experts. We have made dozens of working prototypes in our lab throughout this development, and tested them for function both in practice and on the test bench. We have teamed up with a manufacturer with extensive experience producing similar children’s products, and have developed production designs, drawings, material lists, and plans. We have developed a qualification plan and a quality assurance plan. Finally, we have sourced a CPSC accredited testing laboratory who will act as an independent 3rd party to verify mechanical and material safety.
Our next steps are to create the mold tooling and first articles. These first articles will be tested according to our qualification plan, to ensure safety, function, and durability. After the product has met or exceeded all requirements, we will send samples to the CPSC accredited testing laboratory for final testing and approval.
We are totally committed to bring this quality product to you. We’ve budgeted time for the standard issues, and don’t foresee any extraordinary challenges. However, should there be any setbacks, we will communicate them to you in a timely manner.
