About this project
This project was started to create a new piece of music by LA composer Casey Dickey. This piece will be used in two ways. The first is as an educational tool for Dustin Williams, the soloist, to get into colleges and work with young musicians. The second is to help fill a gap in quality solo music written for solo trumpet and brass choir.
The piece will be premiered at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. The school's brass choir will be performing the work on their Spring concert in March 2013. Dustin Williams will be the guest soloist for that performance.
Casey is a Kansas City born composer and trumpet player. In 2003 he was accepted in the the Eastman School of Music as their first ever jazz composition undergraduate student. While there he studied with Bill Dobbins. After completing his degree Casey served in the Peace Corps in West Africa. Casey earned his Masters degree from the University of Miami where he studied with Gary Lindsay. He has composed and/or arranged music for Terence Blanchard, Mark O'Connor, Michael Feinstein, Harold Danki, Clay Jenkins, Tiempo Libre and countless other young artists.

Risks and challenges
The risk for this project is minimal. The performance is in March in Missouri which could provide weather issues for the premier performance. Other than that, Casey is quickly finishing the piece and will be completed very soon!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
