About this project
Our goal is to showcase people and places that are important to America, but that most of us have never heard of. It will be a weekly web series, available to everyone. We want to entertain you while bringing to the forefront places, stories, and ideas seldom explored or discussed. It is a News show, masquerading as a satire, wrapped in the format of a weekly road trip movie. The idea that one man can fix an entire country is insane, but that's kind of the point: one man alone can't do it all, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't try. Shoot for the moon, and you might just reach it.
We want to bridge the gap to bring a greater understand of different classes, cultures, and generations through the universal language of comedy. You will laugh, you will cry, you will get a little angry, and then you will laugh some more. Hopefully by the end of each episode you will feel like you know this Country and the people who inhabit it, just a little bit better.
By pledging, you have the opportunity to take the wheel for a leg of this journey, and steering it into something you want to see illuminated. Everyone who pledges will have the power to impact at least a scene of our show. The world today is just a vast and constant flow of ideas and events; with Fixing America we want to bring together and showcase ones that we think people should know more about. In the funniest way possible.
The point is that we may not all agree about what's wrong with this nation, but nearly all of us want it to get better. Online and on tv, we see wealthy people living excessively, and we idolize this. With Fixing America we will see the real America, the hard working, the unappreciated, and the struggles of the average citizen. The more we know the greater ability we have to really Fix America.
Risks and challenges
Problem: Traveling and filming is really expensive.
Solution: I buy, sell, and deliver classic cars all across the country. This enables me to drive all across this land at my own leisure, with the delightful side effect of being in different classic cars each time I depart.
Problem: Cameras, camera men, and a working webpage are also not free.
Solution: That is what the Kickstarter funding is for. I have very good amateur camera men, web designers, and behind the scenes contributors who believe in the cause. Once we reach our goal, and the kickstarter ends, our website, youtube page, twitter account, facebook page, etc will be live and functioning properly within two weeks. Most importantly, we will be getting a video editing program that actually works.
Problem: It takes a long time to film a series.
Solution: We are all very dedicated to this project, and want to see it thrive. As soon as our Kickstarter ends, we will begin filming. One of the big first parts of our series is Jarrod looses 100 lbs. in 90 days. The first segment of these chronicles will go live on the same day our website does. Jarrod has been writing all of the things he loves and hates about this nation for year and is chomping at the bit to document them on film. His Obama Care should be kicking in soon, and he will be doing even more daring things... "For You America". There will be at least one full episode every week, and each episode will have at least one idea or contribution from a Pledger like yourself. For example... one of our silent contributors wishes Jarrod to explore this market in Japan of women being paid to film themselves eating. Jarrod will test this himself by filming himself eating cheese while dressed as a giant mouse.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
