The Drowned Earth...
...is a tabletop miniatures game where brave heroes and villains risk the dangers of the wilds for glorious riches and ancient technology!

The game is set in the land of Ulaya, a tropical world of flooded cities, overgrown ruins and terrifying predators.
About the Development Process
When I decided to create The Drowned Earth I had Four simple design briefs. I wanted the game to have:
- A Parkour/ Freerunning movement system.
- Rules which told a narrative through a dramatic reaction mechanic.
- A streamlined, elegant system which was quick to learn and easy to remember.
- An unambiguous rules set suitable for competitive play.
Two years of development later, and I think I've ticked those boxes, and many more! The Drowned Earth is the kind of game you can tell stories about, without once talking about the mechanics or the dice you rolled.
Models leap off buildings, guns blazing, dodge bullets as they run through open ground, and swing from vines to take key objectives. It truly is a cinematic, narrative game full of knife edge choices and story moments!
About the Miniatures
I've watched and backed a lot of Kickstarters, and passionately want to avoid the pitfalls many of them experience with late delivery, quality issues and production bottle necks. As a first time producer I have done as much research as possible to mitigate risk.
To that end I have established full production pipeline and have actually gone through a complete production cycle with an outstanding metal caster, to deliver to you the best metal miniatures I can. Pictures speak a thousand words.
So lets have a look at who these brave and nefarious characters are. Meet the factions!
Currently there are four Crews for The Drowned Earth, each of which comprise of five high quality metal models in 35mm scale.
- Four multi-part metal infantry models on 30mm bases.
- One multi-part metal "Tough", on a 40mm base.
The first two Crews are available at the project start, while the other two will have to be unlocked during the campaign. See Stretch Goals for details!
How to Pledge:
- Pick the pledge level you wish to purchase.
- Calculate the cost of any add ons you wish to purchase.
- Shipping will be calculated at the lowest possible rate in the pledge manager, after the campaign ends.

Each backer pledging at the "Ankle Deep" level or higher will receive a model created by the backer community, by voting on story episodes each week of the campaign.

Risks and challenges
I have been working on this project for 20 months now. This isn't just "another Kickstarter" to me. Early on I made a conscious decision:
If I was going to go to Kickstarter I wanted to do everything I could to ensure that the risk to you, the backer, is as small as possible.
My desire to guarantee both quality and service to you has meant that I have limited the scope of this Kickstarter to just four factions, and spend the extra funds on a full production run in order to demonstrate my ability to deliver.
I have chosen to be conservative when it comes to "giveaways" and "free stuff". I know the big companies do this sort of thing, and it can make a Kickstarter very successful. However, I am unwilling to sacrifice my delivery deadline for some extra money and hype, and would rather be certain I can deliver what I promise to you, the backer, rather than make promises which will be challenging to keep.
By keeping the scope of the project manageable, and putting a great deal of the logistical and manufacturing effort before, rather than after the Kickstarter, I am confident that I have achieved my aim of minimising your risk.
Of course there are risks, and of course there are challenges. A complicated, multi-part project such as this one is subject to a number of problems.
Having eliminated the uncertainty of untested manufacturing pipelines I believe the main challenge for the project moving forward is delays.
Having spoken to many industry veterans, established relationships with reputable and respected logistics partners, and spent considerable effort in researching potential problems and how to solve them, I feel confident that I am well positioned to handle any issues which might occur.
What's more, I have allowed for delays and other such problems in both my financial and timing calculations, and am confident in my ability to supply your pledge to you within the deadline I have indicated, and at the high level of quality I have set.
