Final Kickstarter Update

Hmm, 30 minutes to go and $2600 still needed to fund. I think it's safe to say that's not likely to happen. However, thanks very much to those who did pledge -- it's an honor to know that people are willing to pledge even $400 to help one of my projects.

So, just to reiterate what I said in my previous update, even without funding, NUF is still coming out and I'll make sure that not funding affects production as little as possible. Even though the project didn't fund, there are still some things you can do to help out:

And don't forget about the official website at -- that's the best place to stay up to date with Nuclear Unicorn Force and my other projects. It has an RSS feed you can subscribe to so you don't have to check the website for updates all the time.

Well, that's about all I've got. Thanks again for your support and have a great day!

Progress, and What's Next for NUF

Howdy everyone,

Sorry for the long delay between updates. The reason is that I've been working hard on the game, so I haven't had much time ('til now) to write any updates.

First, a big thank-you to everyone who has pledged to the project so far. With only one week left and not even 10% of the way to the goal, I think it's realistic to say the Kickstarter probably will not fund. This is despite the fact that I've succeeded at getting some good press for the game and raised quite a bit of awareness about the project. I understand that NUF is a rather niche genre to begin with, and that "The game will release either way, but funding the Kickstarter will make it better" is a hard sell. I knew the Kickstarter was probably a bit of a long shot.

What does not funding mean for NUF? As little as possible. Primarily, it means I won't be able to fund composition of an original soundtrack, so I'll have to stick with licensed stock music. That's a little sad, but not the end of the world. It also means there probably won't be any physical extras -- not at first, anyway -- and that I'll have to pay for copyright fees etc. out of my pocket. Those things won't directly affect the quality of the game, and in fact development has been proceeding very well the last few weeks.

Of course, there's still the remote chance of a last-minute miracle surge of pledges, so the Kickstarter might fund yet. I just wanted to communicate an assurance that even without funding, the game will still release and it will still be awesome. Thanks again for your support and have a great week!

Some NUF Press

Wayne Kubiak of ExtraGuy wrote up a cool preview of Nuclear Unicorn Force. Particularly awesome is where he compares the game's voicework to old Working Designs localizations. That's some high praise!

A big thank-you to those who have pledged so far. It's good that NUF is starting to get a little press, but clearly much more is needed. If you can, please help spread the word! I know there are hardcore shooter fans out there, the problem is reaching them. Meanwhile, I'll continue trying to promote the game on my end.

Here's a sneak peek of the latest NUF stage, which I finished working on just yesterday:

Every gamer's worst nightmare: It's a water level and a fire level at the same time.

Thank you again!
