You'll find new high-quality videos there and tour schedules and everything else. We will continue to take donations to this project via PayPal at email@example.com, until the release of the two new EPs or full-length album. PayPal-backers will receive the same rewards listed on this page for Kickstarter-backers.
I love you, and I thank you. You gave me the best birthday gift ever: encouragement and support to continue creating new music. Your enthusiastic response means a lot to me. Let's sing together forever.
DREAM TO RELEASE RECORD THE RIGHT WAY: $17,000
APRIL 6 IS MY BIRTHDAY, AND YOUR PLEDGE IS THE ONLY GIFT I WANT.
***If you would like to buy me a birthday beer on April 6, 2012, just add that $3 or $5 or $7 (depending on the drink) to the Kickstarter instead. $2 Lone Star prices and Crown Royale prices also accepted.***
Here's a little raw excerpt of the Austin trio experimenting with another brand new tune:
Paul Banks & The Carousels are currently pre-producing and arranging enough new material for a full-length album. We've been playing many of the songs since as early as last July on tour in California, and I feel like this is the most exciting batch of songs I've written to date. I've explored new songwriting styles and incorporated some enduring influences that I have to tap into, such as funky dance rhythms that groove hard and deep. The songs are diverse, and I hope that you find hope and goodness in them. I'm thrilled about where we're heading.
Mostly, I want to sing my heart out to you and share life together. It's what we do.
We're anxious to get these songs recorded -- the way they should be recorded. And we want to get them to the world's ears, too. The recordings will be released in the next year either as two EPs or as one full-length album.
So here's what your pledge will make possible:
We will be recording in Church House Studio, a studio in East Austin with a former life as an old gospel church. I think the echoes of the old space will create the perfect setting for our ebb and flow.
We will produce the music ourselves with Fat Fuse, the professional production team headed up by our multi-instrumentalist bandmate, Christopher Cox, and engineer Grant Johnson. They have impressive experience -- their last production was the new record for our friend Dana Falconberry. Christopher (a great composer in his own right) will also arrange strings to complement vocal harmonies arranged by Jonathan and Joel Nesvadba and myself. (The Nesvadba twins, who currently reside in Los Angeles, will be coming home to Austin for the production).
There will be all sorts of fun things on the record. I've had a great year playing with people all over the country and around Austin, and a string of talented friends and special guests will be involved in the recordings.
After recording, we'll work with another producer to mix the record into glorious sublimity. Then it will be mastered. Both of these steps require a lot of money to be done correctly. We also need to pay for string players and other musicians for the larger arrangements, in addition to studio time and engineering. Your pledge will also help to fund manufacturing and the many costs that go into releasing a great product.
Thanks for stopping by. Check out the rewards -- by supporting us, you'll get all kinds of sweet stuff.
Glad you're here,
NO. No money is not collected until the campaign ends on April 6, 2012, after another payday. If you pledge today, you will not be charged until the campaign is over. And if we don't meet the $8,000 minimum, no money will be collected at all. So help spread the word to make this project happen!
