About this project
WHY WE'RE MAKING THIS FILM:
We're making this film because we want have an open dialogue about political affiliation in the African American community.
The process of opening that discussion includes allowing African Americans to speak for themselves about what their party affiliations are and how they perceive each party in relation to their individual and communal needs. We are scheduled to interview a combination of prominent and local Black Republicans as well as Democrats. Our hope is to create a more accurate picture of African American politics in the United States.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT:
This documentary short film is also an MFA thesis film at the Savannah College of Art & Design and it absolutely can not be made without your support. My team and I simply can not afford to travel around the country to interview all the incredible people who have agreed to speak their minds on the tiny budget we could provide ourselves. We're asking everyone out there to help us get the footage we need to make this documentary as interesting and thought provoking as we know it can be. We're asking for $5500 with a Stretch Goal of $15,000 so that we'll have extra funds for any photos, footage or music we might need to enhance the film.
By dismantling the narrow politics of racial identity and selective self-interest, by going beyond 'black' and 'white,' we may construct new values, new institutions and new visions of an America beyond traditional racial categories and racial oppression. - Manning Marable

Risks and challenges
This project absolutely will be fulfilled or else I won't graduate! We have all the equipment, facilities and support that we need to guarantee an excellent documentary short. The great thing about this project is that everyone has an opinion, so if interviews fall through, there is always someone intriguing waiting to take their place.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
