This post is a little overdue, but with the last special edition finally getting past customs and reaching one of our European backers, we're done.
Thank you for being a part of this project with the GdM team, author and artist team, and I.
There were plenty. For the most part, this was one hell of an experience. There have been a fair few highlights, including, but not limited to:
- Working with a list of my favourite authors 19-strong, my favourite designer, and two of my favourite artists.
- Being supported and trusted by almost 1,000 fans of dark fantasy.
- Managing a $40,000AUD project from concept to delivery.
- Producing a now Stabby Award winning project (best anthology 2017) with the team who have worked their guts out for four years to get us to the point we could attempt something like this.
Pretty much the entire project up to the point we first tried distributing went to plan--on budget and on time. And for a first go, that isn't bad.
We only had one major down, and that was the first attempt at distribution. We got to within ten metres of the finish line, fell, broke both legs and a pinkie toe, received some help from a trainer, and dragged ourselves over the line almost six months later. Without metaphor: a massive thank you, firstly to Thompson Shore's distribution team for picking up where our original distributor left off and making sure everyone got their book, and secondly to our hardcopy backers, for your patience while I got it sorted.
That's all mates!
At this point all rewards have been delivered, with most being sorted early in the last quarter of last calendar year. A few stragglers, customs issues, and returns are now wrapped up, too. Job done.
From the bottom of my grimdark heart, thank you, all 950 of you, for trusting the team and I to deliver on this project, even though there was a hick-up right at the end. Can't say how much we appreciate your support.
Until next project,
