The Barrier Light is a device that measures the most important metrics on your skin. Made and designed in Seoul, South Korea, in the heart of K-Beauty’s booming cosmetic industry, the Barrier Light is the smartest solution to quantify your skin's data and uncover its needs at a deeper level.
The skin barrier's most important function is keeping water inside your body. It also protects against harmful UV rays, bacteria and environmental factors.
As moisture escapes the skin and becomes dehydrated, the skin barrier becomes weaker, leaving it a target for harmful bacteria, premature ageing, and other skin problems. It’s vital to protect this barrier and to keep it strong and healthy to prevent cracked skin and premature aging.
Containing technology that has only been previously used in research labs and hospitals, our device is built with four sensors of the most advanced skin sensor technology.
These are the most important environmental factors when it comes to your skin barrier. For the most reliable data, it’s crucial that measurements aren’t made in environments that are too hot, cold, humid or dry.
After years of developing, testing, developing, and testing some more, we’re finally proud to share our product with you. We've come to the Kickstarter community to give us one last push to help us get the Barrier Light to the market. By meeting our funding goal, we can put final touches on production, manufacture the product and finish developing the companion app.
My team and I have been working for the past couple years developing this product in the heart of K-Beauty - Seoul, South Korea. We've been working in unison with some of the top dermatologists and medical centers in the country to create a product that is accurate, reliable and helpful when it comes to understanding your skin better.
We've now come to a point where we need some extra help producing this product on a larger scale to share our technology with the world. With the $20,000, we can manufacture the device, develop the accompanying app and ship it to our backers by early next year.
Risks and challenges
Creating the technology to measure skin data that could both challenge the medical equipment used in hospitals while being affordable has definitely been the hardest part of this project.
But now, our biggest challenge is delivering our product with an app that users will find easy-to-use and incredibly helpful. We believe we can change skincare for the better with accessible technology and useful data. To do that, we need your backing to produce our device and your support in developing our app. We want to collaborate with our backers so, together, we can build something useful for everyone.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
