F.I.R.E. is a bold statement in online media. It is a venture to bring together the eccentric community of fire and flow performers. Masters, beginners and enthusiasts of poi, staff, hoop, fans and other phenomenal fire and flow props are a part of this community. Everything we do, from festivals, to performances, to practice is big, bright and jaw-dropping. This magazine will convey this ambiance through image and word and be a work of art in itself for all to enjoy.
Fire isn't just for show. Spin jams (public practice) and festivals are convergences of a peace-loving, judgement-free and artful public. All are welcome from children to seniors, and all are there in the open air to heal, learn and perform. The art of spinning does not stop at entertaining performance and our goal goes far beyond the "ooh"s and "ahhs" of our audience. The scope of our endeavor ranges from physical therapy, to child education and recreation, to mental recovery. The odd part is that we are all struggling to bring this beautiful, beneficial art into the public eye.
We are growing! Sometimes quickly, sometimes not so much. We have many vines and branches; what we need is structure to unite and strengthen us. This magazine will present insight through interviews, statistics, illustration, photography. It will also serve as a forum. Performers can meet their audience, beginners can meet their teachers, teachers can meet their mentors. F.I.R.E. is a platform, a venue and a resource.
As a supporter, you deserve a clear and concise summary of how your funds will be appropriated, so here it is.
The $2500 will pay for:
A) Your fantastic rewards.
B) Staff (not the kind you light and spin). Believe us we are fully dedicated and have our hearts in this full force, but some meager compensation helps us devote more time, are recruit necessary help from those who may not be completely invested in our mission.
C) Technical and physical stuff. Domain names, online hosting, an office wipe off board with a mile long to-do list, and a few other humble things.
D) Promotion. A magazine runs on interest power and people only bite when there's bait. Flyers, business cards, snacks for interviewees, hours spent on research and sending friendly messages (which I assure you are all from the heart).
Backs have been broken from bending over backwards calling favors, and biting bullets to keep our budget so incredibly low. All we need from you is what you can pledge, and when we put that together, our humble goal should be within reach.

Risks and challenges
This project challenges the idea that the community is too wide spread to form a true network. Devotion is a powerful tool and with it as my incentive I am personally willing to do footwork that stretches across the country to hand my card, convince people to share their stories (not so hard, we all think we're rock stars) and infect them with my mission statement and enthusiasm.
