The ultimate hot sauce gadget and dieter accessory – Utensilmate is designed to enhance and control your condiment eating experience. It is an innovative new form of condiment dispenser that you can attach to many common hand-held, metal eating utensils to more thoroughly enjoy your condiments at meal time, bite-by-perfect-bite. Its fast and easy to use. Easy to wash. And, its easy to store- for example right on your fridge- if you want to! Utensilmate appeals to a range of users from hot sauce connoisseurs to dieters, who want to measure and control their condiment or salad dressing intake.
Utensilmate's color-coded components make it fast and easy to use. Begin by submerging the blue angled nozzle into your condiment. Engage the plunger, and draw the condiment into the reservoir. Now, attach the powerful magnet side of the Utensilmate to a metal fork, spork, or spoon, and dig in and eat!
While eating, you can apply downward pressure to the red thumb lever to dispense your condiment. And, the blue angled nozzle rotates for use in either the right or left hand.

Developing the Utensilmate
What was the inspiration for Utensilmate? My “eureka moment” came one day five years ago while I was eating lunch, at my home computer station, hunched over a bowl of chili. By habit, I was eating with a spoon in my right hand, and a messy, sticky, hot sauce bottle in my left, saucing every bite. Things were getting quite messy. I began to think “there has to be a better, even more enjoyable way to eat hot sauce”. A nearby inkjet printer syringe, just lying there next to my printer, caught my eye, and BAM! inspiration struck me hard: “with a few modifications”, I thought, “a syringe-like implement could be created to attach to an eating utensil, controlling exactly how much hot sauce I get to enjoy with each bite, and eliminating that sticky bottle hand.” Soon after, I began putting a rudimentary prototype together.
I was able to establish proof of concept as I began experimenting . Early prototypes were crude and made with printer and marinate injectors, fish tank tubing, hot glue and rubber bands. It was awesome, ridiculous, novel, and I loved it! I began to use them when I regularity ate spicy foods, but the convenience just wasn't there yet. Thats when I decided to get serious, and play around with 3D software and 3D printing technologies.
Here are some early designs I came up with:
The Utensilmate has been through five years of development. Its components and prototypes have gone through many revisions and refinements. Currently, we have developed a relationship with and received production quotes from 5 different manufactures and are awaiting funding to get started. Utensilmate is ready, now, and with your contribution it will be at your doorstep and available in the marketplace in a matter of months.
You may have noticed some of our Utensilmate imagery varies between 2 prototypes, including the one in our main Kickstarter video.
The earlier prototype shown doesn't closely reflect a the finished product as the final phase prototype does. We are mentioning this just to be extra clear.
On the day of our main video shoot, our only final phase prototype became unavailable (yikes!). We got our point across well, and produced a really sweet professional video, but I'm not sure we were able to thoroughly show off how functional and versatile Utensilmate really it is.
The final phase prototype is awesome, and as an upgrade, it holds more fluid and has an overall more sleek look, feel and functionality to it.
Utensilmate the company
Uncommon and Uniquely Crafted.. that's our motto..
In wake of Utensilmate the invention, Utensilmate the company was created and has since begun to experience steady growth. Look out for Pizza Hot! Habanero Flakes in retail, and offered for use at your local pizzerias!
A major growing niche we've been apart of is the spicy heat seekers demographic. They get Utensilmate, and have been a source of product inspiration. Multiple publications have put this group in the top 10 growing industries in the U.S.. We seek to ride that wave and contribute to its momentum. Current goals include:
a. Manufacturing/distributing the Utensilmate
b. Growth in producing/distributing current products
c. Development of new gadgets and securing new intellectual properties

I've always appreciated DIY ethics, and few years ago, a series of difficult personal events brought about an epiphany. Ever since, I've gotten in tune with my heart and began to channel my know-how. Along the way, many challenges have presented themselves, but currently its about funding for the "Utensilmate." This pivotal step will pave the way for introducing new products to customers and retailers.

This photo is of a final phase prototype. It very closely resembles the finished product you will receive in your mailbox, its awesome :-)
If any changes, they will likely be slight, and aesthetic only. We will be sure to update backers along the way during manufacturing, and talk about more specifics like, package design.

Risks and challenges
Distribution logistics. Possessing many and/or large orders. Rapid growth.
Of course, this is wishful in thinking, but we've learned from smaller growth spurts about being prepared to meet demand.
Timing. Our multiple manufacturer contacts have quoted between 3-6 months to produce and deliver the Utensilmate. We're counting on them to make that happen. This seems to be a common concern among the "Risks and challenges" section of many design Kickstarter campaigns, understandably.
Introducing new products and ideas. We hope to establish a relationship with the public to share new concepts with to fine tune our crafting of uncommon new stuff. We'll need to figure out the right forum for this casual market research, any ideas?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
