About this project
Risks and challenges
Any person or company that dedicates themselves and puts their idea out there, faces plenty of risks and challenges. The Beatles were rejected by many record labels before finally being signed; Michael Jordan has missed thousands of baskets during his career, but is still known as one of the best basketball players; Thomas Edison, the man who invented many things including the light bulb stated "If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.". Our risks and challenges won't be failures, they are just hurdles we have to face. Some of the risks and challenges we face with completely devoting ourselves into this project would be financial and personal, others we may not be able to predict. but we will overcome these situations. Our goal is to make sure we provide our players with the best game for all to enjoy, for this to happen we have to make sure everything we envisioned is incorporated into the game; this game revolves around our players, not the other way around. Being completely devoted into this project, we would have to commit ourselves and put more hours into this game than a full time job, some of the funding for this project will provide that for us. We would be risking having the stability of that steady income from a full time job, to devoting 110% of our time to create the best game for our players. " If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude." -Charles R. Swindoll.

Excellent Question! We know this project is extremely complex and can appear to be like a huge stretch but we have been working away at knocking out all the character models the map layout and programming the UI. Due to the fact that its an eSport, the levels need to be symmetrical and fair on all angles. We have the basic model for the level as well as the textures down so I feel confident in saying that we have more time to make the game more polished and allow us to make more content for the level design and user experience.

We thought about how we wanted to make a revolutionary game that could change online multiplayer. Well one day I was watching basketball and it hit me…WHY HASEN’T ANYONE MADE A ESPORT WITH A SPORTS ATMOSPHERE ?! So we began creating a game that players feel more like athletes. We added player names and jersey numbers, we added fans that react to the way you play, We added stadiums that can be bought out by “Sponsors” (not real sponsors but sponsors that will give you team points to be able to buy items to help customize your team and stadium)

The Live Gamer Show is a radio show that we will have broadcasting multiple times a week. We will talk about the games progress, allow fans to call in and we will also talk about things going on in the industry. The Virtual Laser League Network or VLL is a broadcast that talks about the match ups of the night, player trade rumors, draft picks, upcoming talent and much more. We will also host a post-game broadcast in which we have interviews with the player of the night. The best way to describe the VLLN is to think of Sports-Center.

Actually lots of games have inspired us. I am a big Halo fan so there is a hint of Halo constructed in the VLL. League of Legends, DOTA 2, Quake, Unreal Tournament and even certain sports games gave us the idea to make a game like ours. The thing that separates us from them is the ideas that we construed ourselves. Things like custom stadiums and online schedules can be revolutionary to the eSports culture. We want to set the bar on the future of this genre and with your help, we can make this game a possibility!
-
Absolutely! You can play matches online that are just for fun with friends (and MAYBE bots). We want this game to appeal to everyone both casual and competitive. Can you play custom games? YES! Custom games are a must for us to have in this game because we want you to host LAN parties to play or just have matches with friends.

We have talked about this and we plan on doing stretch goals but nothing over the top. We want to make sure that we don’t offer more than what we are capable of accomplishing. If we overshoot our goal, we will be able to make a stronger product for you to enjoy!
-
Absolutely! Controller support will be available day one.

We have talked about trying to fit in more than one beta and that’s a strong possibility. We will have at least one beta for sure and maybe even early access.
-
Steam is our top pick for right now. If someone else approaches us we will definitely consider expanding our demographic. Ultimately we want this game on PC though due to the fact that eSports have a big stronghold in the PC culture.

We plan to dim down the games brightness a bit as well as add more of a neon light vibe (similar to laser tag arenas). The gameplay you see above is merely alpha footage and will more than likely be adjusted to fit that atmosphere. We wanted to add smoke to the floor of the arena as well but we decided that making smoke a customized item you could add to your stadium would be more interesting. Once we get to that stage of the game, we will make a forum post to get the input from you the fans because ultimately you’re the ones that will be enjoying the game the most so we want you to be the most happy.

There will be 4 seasons a year and each season there will be a tournament/playoffs to determine the winner. After that season is up there will be a 2 week break before the season starts up. During the off season you can participate in the draft to pick up new players, trade players or create a new team from scratch.
-
No you do not. You can enter as a free agent, you can be placed with a randomly generated team, or create your own team! If you do decide to go into the draft, you will go through an obstacle course to determine your overall skill and abilities. This will give you an overall ranking so that teams in the draft can see what your capable of.

Not at all! We wanted the Rift to be an optional item in game to give you different options but its not required to play.
