Hi, we are THE HOONS. We recently moved our lives to Portland, OR from Anchorage, AK in order to record our debut album and tour the 'lower 48' as we call them. We sold our belongings, left our friends and families, and put it on the line to pursue the band and make this album.
In all honesty, this album has been in the works for nearly seven years, since the band first started. There's been recordings done, members have come and gone, but today we are the final incarnation of The Hoons and we have stories to tell.
We managed to save $5,000 to get started on our album at Supernatural Studios (where bands such as The Shins, Modest Mouse, and The Decembrists have recorded) with Brooklyn-based producer Erik Braund.
We're looking to raise another $10,000 to keep the recording process moving. We're doing this project entirely on our own (without a label) and now we're asking for you to be a part of it. Anything over this goal will result in being able to spend a little extra time on the project and pay some people who have graciously donated their time to us.
We need to pay for more studio time, mixing, mastering, and manufacturing. These costs add up quickly!!!! We've got some pretty fun rewards. Have you ever wanted to get your name tattoo'd on a handsome bassist? Now's your chance!!!
We will be posting video updates for contributors, and photos on our facebook page.
