About this project
Hi, and thanks for checking out Pi Flavours!
As soon as we heard about the launch of the Raspberry Pi we set out to create a high quality, practical and simple case solution. Made from premium materials and with a straightforward construction, Pi Flavours are both fun and beautiful.
The complete solution
Made from high grade stainless steel and precision moulded silicone rubber, Pi Flavours are tough and durable, providing the perfect protection for the delicate Raspberry Pi. The sandblasted finish helps prevent fingerprint marks and a window in the front ensures the status LEDs are visible. Rubber feet give the case extra grip and protect surfaces from damage.
Whilst the Raspberry Pi bare board has been given a Class A rating for electromagnetic emissions, equipment used in a residential environment may be susceptible to radio interference. We designed Pi Flavours with a metal frame to minimise the risk of any unwanted interference with other equipment.
We will be launching the case in five amazing Flavours: Original, Vanilla, Mango, Raspberry and Electric Mint, all of which will come with a silver stainless steel fame.
LIMITED EDITION HONEY & RASPBERRY FLAVOUR!
As a Kickstarter special we will be producing 500 limited cases in Raspberry Red with a sandblasted Gold PVD coated frame. The photos really don’t do the colours justice, they look stunning together.
The final design will feature a minimal slot that allows you to connect a GPIO ribbon cable without altering the pure aesthetic of the case.
The design of Pi Flavours has been developed and tested over the last eight months with various functional and aesthetic prototypes. We have been in close contact with our manufacturer to ensure the finish and quality will live up to our high expectations. The next step is to start tooling and then move in to full production. This is where we need your help to raise enough to cover tooling costs and the initial production run.
We have been very careful to ensure we give realistic timings based on the capacity and availability of our manufacturer. Estimated final delivery is April/May 2013.
With experience in Design, Manufacture and Project Management we feel we have everything needed to deliver a great product with your help.

Risks and challenges
We designed the Pi Flavours case to be easy to manufacture and have been working closely with our supplier to ensure they are capable of producing it. The final design has been developed with feedback from their engineers and any potential issues have been resolved.
As with any new development, timings are often difficult to predict, but we feel we have given sufficient allowance for tooling, manufacture and shipping. The numbers of pledges have been limited to ensure we don’t exceed the production capacity of our supplier.
During the tooling stage review we will need to ensure that tolerances between the stainless steel and silicone rubber parts allow for the case to be disassembled easily, but also tight enough to provide a secure closure.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
