About this project
Yes, we have all been there sitting long lonesome hours in front of a coldly gleaming display trying to find out who invented your favorite gadget, and when. A truly macabre experience. Nonetheless, it's about to be changed. Giving a phenomenal attention to details, and using our short yet successful experience in digital storytelling, Gutenbergz puts forward to your blessing, - o beloved backers!, - our new project – “Gadgetarium”, where your favorite gadget will tell you the history of world's greatest gadgets.
Book? App? Augmented reality?
All in one!
It is a modern way of learning: educative and interactive, therefore, attractive! Gadgetarium is a cross platform journey to the amazing history of the coolest gadgets of all times.
It is a chilling thought what our civilization would look like if weighing scales, wheel, or their close relevant, - iphone – were not invented. We love our gadgets, we thank heavens for them, because gadgets have been our best friends for centuries now, and it is to them we must be grateful for guiding us to the stars, literally.
Long before first telescope was deployed, or first transistor was taught how to conduct current, first attempts to calculate things, quantity of which exceeded 10, had been made. Funny as it might look at first, but gadgetry was in the very first stick used to drive back predators! Thus, gadgets had always been there to make our lives somewhat cushy... What is gadget if not a tool that is cool?
“Gadgetarium” not only will tell you the history of our civilization’s most revolutionizing and important technological achievements, but will absolutely amaze you with its brilliant design, unique illustrations, beautiful audio accompanying and much more.
Gutenbergz (yes, with “piratical” z), being the group of bookworms who take pride in having an ambitious mission to stimulate the world read more,is designing the “Gadgetarium” as a highly reliable app; it uses only academic sources, thus serving both educational and entertaining purposes in story-telling genre.
Our inquisitive mind once turned a stick into a sledge-hammer, pottery - into trains, pebble into your laptop, and the best thing is that we have no intention to stop being inquisitive. We owe so much to gadgets and various breakthrough inventions that brought us into modern world, that it is only our duty to learn their fascinating history.
With “Gadgetarium” this journey will become so interactive and captivating that you will have to admit that learning process today is so much fun!
Spin, roll, squeeze, glide and pinch as you will – everything about new educational process is interactive. “Gadgetarium” will bemuse you with its functionality and interactivity that can be ever fitted in your devices (iOS, Android). You can see for yourselves how gadgets function, look inside their mechanisms, push them to work or stop them, or even create your very own gadget (see chapter “Gadget Box”).
Every page of our app contains thoroughly researched scholar info about the given gadget, beautifully designed interactive models, audio descriptions of gadgets, videos and photos, and more.
Exquisite steam-punk unique design of “Gadgetarium” will leave no one impassible, not only because of its beauty, but because it is a magical virtual library in your device. It is highly educational, yet entertaining all the way through.
Surely, you must remember our previous app “Sherlock Holmes for the iPad”, which also was our debut. Substantial success of dear old “Sherlock” with warm app reviews got us thinking of something more prominent and we came to realization that no Sherlocks would come to pass without tools necessary for investigations. Elaborating this thought we decided to investigate a mysterious case of Greatest Gadgets History. To tell you the truth, it required a bit more than a hat and a looking class, for even a simple compass has a formidable story behind its invention. It took no less than a full academic research to find out the history of gadgets like clocks, radio, or wheel; small wonder then that not so many people know the history of their beloved gadgets.
Luckily, “Gadgetarium” combines only significant information with visually impeccable interactivity, without heavy scholarly reading and perplexing controversial data that some encyclopedias contain.
Magical audio accompanying and content will please your years, while your eyes and minds will be full of thrilling experience of discovery. In the magical world of “Gadgetarium” you can become an illustrious inventor yourselves, which leads us to the part of our journey:
With “Gadgetarium” app you will have a possibility to delve into the enthralling history of the world’s greatest technologies and feel the spirit of invention yourself! Your imagination knows no boundaries (otherwise you would not come here:) and we would like to encourage our backers to taste the exiting sensation of discovery by adding a unique “Gadget Box”, where you can mesh different gadgets and create your personal one. You can also share your prodigious brainchild with your friends or appreciate their own “inventions”. Post your every creation on Facebook to see if your friends like it. If collaboration of minds is the mightiest power, who knows what you and your mates can come up with!
However, there is still so much more! Dear backers, we offer you to participate directly in the process of creation of this enchanted world of Gadgets offering you an augmented reality added to it!
Innate desire of our fun-addicted team to have even more fun inspired us to test if augmented reality is any good. Well, it is! We want our “Gadgetarium” to have a full functioning augmented reality, which will enable the world of Gadgets to become even more alive! No Frankenstein’s idea of life, though, we just want every tight and bolt and valve of every mechanism to become alive by simply directing your device on a special sign in printed Gadgetarium Handbook.
