One of the things that really annoyed me about the public release of Deus Ex Machina is the "adult" certificate. Maybe they thought young people will get corrupted by the discovery that we've all got the wobbly bits and dangly bits we are born with. So here's the deal ... I've turned the whole idea of Deus Ex Machina into a game for little kids.
It's called EGGBIRD, and it's for 3-year olds up to 93 year-olds. (Yeah, it's got Christopher Lee's final performance in it, and he's being very silly indeed.)
So, I warmly invite you to join in the fun on the EGGBIRD Kickstarter, for some egg-hatching, orphan love, lingering death, procreational mating, crass stupidity, and the creative use of bird excrement, all for sweet little children.
If you've got kids, if you know any kids, if you were once a kid yourself, please be a part of EGGBIRD - the video game, the movie, the book and the musical, all in one. Join in the fun and spread the word. With very many thanks, and I look forward to seeing your name and face in EGGBIRD.
Thanks everyone ... the third and final Kickstarter campaign target for DEUS EX MACHINA was hit bang on time, after every single item of DEUS EX MACHINA memorabilia got pledged.
So here we are, a few hours to go before I wave you all a fond farewell. I'm priviledged to have invited you to play a part in this little bit of video game history. So this is it, the last chance EVER for your name and face to feature in Deus Ex Machina, Game Of The Year Collector's Edition, for all formats, for all time. I'm locking the gate tomorrow and then I'll be throwing away the key.
Thanks Kickstarter, thanks Deus Ex Machineheads, thanks everyone, it's been a great ride.
Thanks everyone ... we're a few steps away from success. Our Kickstarter campaign for the 30th Anniversary edition of the original DEUS EX MACHINA Game Of The Year has only 57 hours and £570 to go! Love that symmetry.
All the memorabilia has now been snapped up by collectors, apart from the original Ian Dury session tape which was added to the pledges yesterday. Last chance to get your name and double-portrait in the game forever ... that's your recent photo alongside what you looked like 30 years ago - how can you resist ;)
Greetings, Deus Ex Machineheads!
The remastered soundtrack for the 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition of DEUS EX MACHINA has been completed ahead of schedule, thanks to Jonathan Golden Ears Cook and his audio magic.
Colin Jones The Welsh Wizard has confirmed that the programming is also ahead of schedule, and we can guarantee that all backers will receive their copies of the game either on time or ahead of time. So we need to hit our target in the next six days.
Mel has decided to enhance the new "thank you" sequence that features the names and faces of backers along with Jon Pertwee, Ian Dury and the team. He'll be asking for 2 MUGSHOTS from you - one that's up to date, and one from 30 years ago, so start combing through your family albums and get ready to play your part in a slice of video game history.
The special preview screening of the movie "From Bedrooms To Billions" featuring the original DEUS EX MACHINA took place In Liverpool on Saturday to a packed house. And the original game and memorabilia is now centre-stage at the "Revolution In The Bedroom: War In The Playground" exhibition at Gallery Oldham, thanks to the National Centre For Craft And Design. And we've just heard that this 30th Anniversary edition of the game is to feature in the Shakespeare Media History exhibition, Folger Library, Washington DC, which happens to have the largest collection of Shakespeare works and memorabilia in the world. Apparently Mel may have had some help from Shakespeare when he was writing the lyrics for DEUS EX MACHINA!
Spread the word, see you in the game, keep smiling.
