About

On March 15, 2018, we lost a friend, a family member, and a great football player.

Beau Christian Allen was born November 14, 1991 in Minnetonka, Minnesota. He was a bright and happy boy growing up with friends always around. He and his buddies would spend all their time after school playing football in the backyard till the sun was setting and he was called in for supper. He always liked to say, “ you can call me anything, just don’t call me late for supper.”

All that time playing football with friends paid off. Beau was recruited by Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan, UCLA, amongst others, but decided to go to the alma mater of his parents, the University of Wisconsin. At Wisconsin he helped the Badgers win three BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP. When he wasn’t on the field he could be found either pounding the books in the Library or holding court on Terrace at Memorial Union. Beau got along with everyone.

After stellar college career, Allen was drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. On May 15, 2014, he signed a four-year deal with the them. As a rookie in 2014, Allen played all 16 games with 10 tackles and half a sack. In a game against the Cleveland Browns on September 11, 2016,  Allen entered on offense, lining up as the team's fullback. The Eagles were able to score a touchdown behind Allen's blocking.

He always loved the game of football, but he was more than just a defensive tackle. He was also the guy on the team with the biggest heart, the guy you could share your struggles with, the guy that made the locker room come alive. He could walk into a locker room bare-chested, sporting tasseled buckskin gloves, and giant smile and you knew you were in for a good time, he was just that type of guy.

With Beau Allen no longer with us, we mourn his loss. Not many cities understand that the defense wins games, championships, and Super Bowls, but Philadelphia Eagles fans understand this. With Allen’s too recent departure we shall miss him and his spirit.

To commemorate Allen’s legacy, on July 8th , 2018, teammate Chris Long tweeted , “I might pay someone to put up a mural of @Beau_Allen in Philly.” That tweet went out and received a heap of replies, eventually the right artist was found, and the location was set in South Philadelphia, and now all we need is your help funding the project. Beau Allen might be gone, but we will “Never Forget” Beau Allen.

Risks and challenges

Parking in South Philadelphia is always a challenge. If it rains non-stop for three weeks in September it may push back the unveiling party. Lastly, non-Eagles fan may wish to deface this beautiful mural.
