Hi @Calvin Morse,
Thank you for your feedback. Happy to hear that you liked our idea of Tapdo as a standalone device, as we initially planned to implement it. We had lots of opinions like yours that motivated us but many more that showed us Tapdo will not succeed in the market as a non-integrated wearable or button. We’ll still be posting updates on kickstarter once in a while for those who are interested in our progression and future plans.
Dear @Cas_per_M,
We are very sorry about your disappointment. Seems like you were a big fan of Tapdo – We were thinking back and forth before we came to our decision and we didn’t want to disappoint any of our backers because we are very grateful for all the support!
We launched on kickstarter being enthusiastic and hoping the community would be excited about our tech. But unfortunatelly we realized that we have to change our orientation in order to make tapdo a lasting success. People showed us that they love the concept of interacting with their fingerprints, but not by having another piece of hardware around their wrist. With those findings in mind, we want to move on and find an advanced way to bring Tapdo to the market.
Strange decision to drop the entire project on such short notice, to get the tech implemented in other products...
The best thing about this entire project has been the standalone functionality, enabling users to trigger pretty much anything to their liking using TapDo.
It seems Kickstarter was only used to get a sense/feel of the market's interest about the tech. If so, weak move and bad decision.
Honestly, I don't need tech implemented in some sort of proprietary hardware/software combo. The flexibility and independence of TapDo was the main attractive factor in the entire project...... :-(
While integrating this technology into other hardware may be the ultimate route of success for Tapdo, it is the exact opposite reason I am interested in this campaign. Divorcing myself from constant direct interaction with the main hardware (i.e. my mobile device) is what motivates my spending on your tech. Integrating your multi-command fingerprint software into my mobile device would be most welcomed indeed, but that still leaves a hole in the market for doing so remotely. However, making yourselves part of existing wearable technology will certainly open that door again and pique my interest.
How should we best follow your progression going forward?
Hello @Cas_per_M, you are unfortunately right, the project is canceled. The our explanation in the last update! We believe to integrate the tapdo concept into other product and you can use it in the future. Thank your very much for your support! Kind regards Markus
@Alexandre
Yes, the button itself communicates with its iOs or Android device via Bluetooth. Bluetooth range depends on several factors, as for example, the number of WiFi networks, the materials the walls are made of, etc. The average range is about 20m.
Hi, if I understand well, the button can't work alone as all the communications must go to the phone application, using your API, and then only the phone communicates with the button. If this is right, for me this limits a lot the possibilities as the phone as to be in Bluetooth range. I hoped it would use wifi to communicate for global in house use.
Could you clarify this point as if I understood correctly this won't work in my case.
@Cas_per_M We are working hard to let people now about are project, so we are confident it will get full funding soon. Also, we are happy to hear that you are looking forward to owning your personal TapDo. Best wishes, Bastian//tapdo
Hi all, I'd like to see TapDo secure success funding through this. It's first time I see a product that does shortcut to (almost) everything with one simple tap. I don't really know why this campaign hasn't generated more interest that it deserves. Maybe you need to pimp up a little on promotion : )
any chance you could put a hard plastic loop so one could run a lanyard through it? that along with the clip would greatly improve not losing the device.
@Bartlomiej: As a backer of our porject you should find an option to change your pledge at the top of our Kickstartarter page. There you can easily change it to the 2x97 euro pledge.
@Mohamad Kamsani: Hi Mohamad, the clip's desgin allows it to be attached to clothing and in fact to any place it fits :) The clip is of high quality and reliable so that you can use it for your purposes without worries. Best wishes, Josephin from tapdo
How durable and how strong is the clip? i have a Bluetooth button thats similar but has only a few functions, and the clip detaches fairly easy, if it werent for kind passersby i would have lost it when the backing came off when i clipped it to my belt.
@Cas_per_M We are happy to hear that you like the clip. New stretch goals are planned and will be made public once 100% are reached :)
Best regards, Bastian
@Team Tapdo: great to see that the clip will be provided! The question remaining:.... will there be new stretch goals in order to drive pledges?.... :-)
@Arief Setiawan: In Autumn this year, when the tapdos are delivered, both hands will be usable so that altogether about 52 functions will be possible. Best wishes, Josephin
@Arief Setiawan: Hi Arief, at the moment you can assign these functions to one hand. But don't worry. We are already planning to make tapdo usable for both hands :) Best wishes, Josephin
Now you mentioned that TapDo support over 20 commands. this I assume you can assign one palm to 20 different commands. Can I use both my left and right palm, so that would make ... +/- 40 commands : )
@Arief Setiawan: So far, this function is not on our list. But for chromecast there is an Android app, so, as, Josephine mentioned below, you may propose this function on our website and vote for it then :-)
Well I use Chromecast a lot on my bedroom. Of course I wish with tapdo, I can program it so that the Youtube app can start casting to the TV with one tap ? or maybe you'd need a Tasker to do so ?
@Alessandro "NeatWolf" Salvati: Hi Alessandro, we support IFTTT and Xiaomi smart devices can be controlled via IFTTT. Depending on the number of users of Xiaomi devices that vote for the integration (Take a look: https://tapdo.io/use-cases/) we may integrate the Xiaomi protocol into the tapdo App in the future.
Tapdo only communicates with the tapdo App on your device (smartphone/tablet) Then the App can control other smart devices or services which are connected to your phone via bluetooth or wifi.
@Arief Setiawan: Hi Arief, I like to add that the top-rated functions will be processed first. At the day of release you will be able to work with IFTTT. Best wishes, Josephin :)
@Arief Setiawan: Hey Arief, you can vote for a function which tapdo should have in the future.
(Take a look: https://tapdo.io/use-cases/) The top-rated functions will in then be integrated into the tapdo.
We also support IFTTT, a service provider which helps connecting (web) applications.
As we provide an open API you can also integrate tapdo into the different devices you use.
Let me know if you have any further questions :)
So it basically means that Tapdo will be releasing an open source api for a product currently supported by 228 backers, and that Xiaomi is possibly going to decide wether to adapt their app just for 228 people? This seems unlikely to happen at the moment but I cross my fingers :)
I'm still confused about the Bluetooth part. Could you please elaborate?
May I have my bluetooth device natively paired with a generic single Bluetooth device, without using third party apps, and the Tapdo is going to be able to communicate via its app using Bluetooth at the same time? I thought it was impossible. Is this some kind of patent pending tech? Care to share the ID of the patent?
Hey guys, first of all. great idea ! congratulations ! I wish you all success
Like Alessandro mentioned, I'm not sure how Xiaomi won't be supported in future ? I too have/us Xiaomi phone daily and are using some of their products for their smart-home line. and yes, they are quite famous too
@Alessandro "NeatWolf" Salvati: Hey Alessandro, we provide an open API so Xiaomi would be able to integrate their devices into our App on their own. We for our part unfortunately didn't to integrate them in the near future. Sorry about that!
The good news is that tapdo doesn't require an exclusive use of Bluetooth. You can connect multiple devices at the same time :-) Kind regards, Laura!

Given that the trend of losing backers I think TapDo is not going to reach it's goal.
How are the team going to turn this trend around?

@Creators,
When do you expect to spark the final push in order to let the project succeed?
I cant help but notice that the previous few weeks the project became a little stuck on funding.
Maybe adding some stretch goals can help?
Any way, I am looking forward to TapDo!
