About this project
Monsterella is an action/adventure/horror/sci-fi anthology inspired by spooky and action packed magazines of the 1970's like "Vampirella", "2000 AD", "Creepy" & "Eerie".
This 40 page monstrous first issue revolves around the continuing adventures of Montrossa Rella, AKA "Monsterella", the warden of an intergalactic prison planet, where the galaxy's worst of the worst monsters are imprisoned and isolated from the rest of the universe. All hell breaks loose when an unexpected revolt overthrows her, and threatens the safety of the entire galaxy!
But her adventures are just one chapter of the book. In the style of the classic Vampirella magazines, Monsterella goes on to introduce other astonishing tales told and illustrated by a creepy collection of Canadian talents that will be sure to chill and thrill you cover to cover, but first we need to get it into print, and that’s where YOU come in, friends!
Monsterella #1 is complete and ready for print, all these fine talents have already put in the countless hours necessary to unleash this spooktacular volume upon an unsuspecting public, but it's going to take more than time and dedication to get it into print, it's going to take the one thing most artists don't have, money.
The collection of talents that contributed to this first issue, if you're not familiar with them, are the best artists you've never seen, making the best books you've never read. With great discipline and fortitude they've honed their crafts within any spare moment they could grab, as they balance their family life, day job and other daily responsibilities. If by burning the midnight oil, or rising at the crack of dawn while the rest of the world sleeps, they hit the drawing board, chipping away at the next story that astonishes you, or illustrating the next drawing that blows your mind. Here's a rundown of what you'll have to boldly face in this first issue...
First we’ll meet Monsterella, as she begins her journey to regain control of the prison planet Doomru. Along with her hunting companion, Zorgo, she makes some interesting new ship-wrecked earthling friends that are left with no choice but to join her on this deadly and epic quest. “Monsterella” is written and illustrated by Nevin Arnold (“Calavera The Undead”).
Next, a young warrior faces unholy madness as she searches for her friend in...”The Dungeon Of The Necromaster”! Written by John Rathiganthan (“From The Ashes”), and illustrated by Dan MacKinnon (“From The Ashes”).
Intermission comes in the form of an earth shatteringly awesome two page Monsterella centerfold by A. Shay Hahn (“The Homeless G-Men”). We dare you to not pull it out of the comic, double dog dare you.
Next up, a mother faces her greatest fear in the first installment of writer/artist Josh Kully’s epic and poetic “The Stork”.
Then, a galactic exploration crew find a beautiful green woman floating in space. She seems to have all the answers, except to the mysteries that surround her, “The Space Siren Of Sector 13”! Written by Nevin Arnold and illustrated by Andrew Fryer (who is currently working on a Monsterella origin issue, “The First Hunt”).
All this wrapped up in a stunningly jaw dropping front cover, illustrated by the great Sun Khamunaki (“Lady Death”), and back cover featuring the famous Perogy Cat, brilliantly illustrated by artist extraordinaire, Gareth Gaudin (“Perogy Cat”, “Enid Jupiter and Lyra Gotham”).
On with the rewards! We have a little something for everyone, big budget or small, every dollar counts and your support means so much to us! Here's a look at some of the exciting rewards!
If we exceed our funding goal, we'll be able to print more copies to put into the hands of more great folks like yourself! Everyone will receive a bonus "Calavera : No Rest For The Wicked" short story pdf. If we exceed $1,500, other rewards will become unlocked for all physical reward purchasers as well, bookmarks and Calavera & Monsterella signature cards! If we exceed $2000, embroidered Hangman Comics logo patches!!
Is $1,250 Enough?
Nope! But it does get the book into print, into your hands, and a minimal amount of copies to each of the creators involved. We're getting the book printed locally, at a place that prints premium quality comic books. It may cost a bit more than printing over seas but we believe in supporting local businesses whenever possible. Our goal, doubled, would give us a more desired amount of print copies, but this is Hangman Comic's first kickstarter and many of you are unfamiliar with us, trust must be earned, and takes time. We have all the time in the world, our dreams of making comics aren't going away :)

Risks and challenges
As mentioned earlier, this book is complete and ready for print! We're not asking you to gamble on a group of creative types you're unfamiliar with to finish a project, the countless hours of work and inspiration that goes into a project like this has already been successfully volunteered.
We had the vision to conceive it, the talent to create it, and the discipline to complete it. We just need the funds to print it, bring it forth into the world, and into your hands.
THANK YOU. Thanks so much for your time and consideration, and thank you in advance if you choose to support this project, and/or spread the word of Monsterella :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
