This book is about celebrating who we are and embracing our differences with acceptance and joy. And with the talented, creative power of Damon Guthrie as illustrator, we have created a unique window into the best of the human family.
We are almost ready to go to the publisher, and we need your help to get "If You Looked At Me" into the hands of children everywhere. We are raising funds to complete payments to Damon for his wonderful work and to print our first run of books. - Wanda Remmers, Author
Working with Wanda Remmers on this book has been an exciting journey; studying the diversity of the characters and being able to illustrate them with fresh perspectives. I have worked hard and enjoyed the challenges, creating images that help bring Wanda's ideas to life and color! I have been lucky to have the opportunity yo draw so many scenes of happy people in places like the grand canyon, backyard swimming pools, karate dojos and sandy-beach volleyball courts. I hope you will love this story and enjoy its images, as you investigate the joys that come along with embracing the wonderful diversity of our world. Learn-On! Damon Guthrie of SameTeam.U
I remember being a kid walking down the street feeling people staring at us- my mom with pale skin and blond hair, my sister with olive skin and long brown curls, and me with brown skin and wild, free locks. I am not sure if they were scared, or sad, or curious or what they were feeling. But they were staring, and I felt different. This book, my mom's book, reminds us that we are all "different". All of us have family members that have more, need more or work harder than others. That is because we are all human, part of the same tapestry of colors and textures, skills and abilities.
I wish I understood that as a kid. Or better yet, that we all knew how alike we really are. Then no one would be staring, and everyone would be smiling.

Risks and challenges
The book is complete and ready to print. However, if we do not raise the funds we will not be able to share it with the public. We believe in this book and want to share. The message is more important today than ever.
The next step of course is marketing the book and getting into people’s hands. We are working on our plan for that.
We are novices and we know that the next steps are going to be difficult. We are reaching out to published authors around us for advice and guidance. However, having the book printed and ready to go is the biggest hurdle. A successful KickStarter campaign will make all the difference.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
