It seems like everyone takes "selfies" these days; actors, presidents, athletes-- and all the rest of us. (Definition: a photo that one has taken of oneself, typically taken with a smartphone and uploaded to a social media site) I'm a professional artist and over the past twelve years I've been developing my style and talent, but I've mostly drawn portraits of monkeys, dogs, cats, and chickens. Recently though, I started to do portraits of myself and friends, and thought, why not ask folks who've taken selfie photos to send some of them to me so I can draw portrait, after portrait, after portrait? I love a good challenge and that's exactly what this is. I don't have any grand scheme about what I'll do after this project ends--no book or other collection, although if I get enough of them I will have an exhibit on my Linda Sheets Art facebook page. I just want to see your selfies, and then draw you, as I see you, from them.
It'll be easy, you take the selfie or multiples and send them my way...then I'll get to work making art from them. They can even be "faux" selfies--for instance, if you want a portrait of someone for a gift or a memory of someone no longer here, you take/get the photo, send it my way and that works too.

There are several options of rewards, if you want quick and easy I'll draw you and send a file and you can print yourself, or you can choose to get the original art(which would be my choice). Tell your friends and SEND ME YOUR SELFIES! It will be easy..you take your selfie,(or selfies) then send it to me and I'll do the rest.
Scratchboard is a rigid panel coated with white clay and then sprayed with black ink. I "cut" and "carve" into the surface with sharp tools to create a drawing that can resemble a woodcut, etching or pen and ink drawing. I then use various paints and inks to add color, seal and then done!
Risks and challenges
There will be challenges because some of the selfies I've seen are pretty blurry, or even odd in content, but I'm confident that I can work with you to get good photos to draw from. If not I'll just slog my way through and make it up....that's what being an artist is.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
