Double Time! Every dollar pledged to Alpha Colony gets matched!

It’s our final week here for Alpha Colony and we’ve crossed the halfway mark and are headed for the finish line! We’re revving up to for new content all this week to help us meet our goal. Beginning with this very exciting announcement:

Double Time! Every dollar pledged to Alpha Colony on Kickstarter gets matched!

Starting today, your dollar goes further! This is really exciting news because it means that we now have a realistic chance of not only succeeding but also reaching several of the stretch goals we had our heart set on. But how is this possible?

#1 – Colorado Film Incentive Program

We’re proud to announce that our application to the Colorado Film Incentive Program has been accepted! This program matches funds spent on creative content projects based in Colorado, such as film or video games. However, if we don’t reach our Kickstarter goal, we will not be able to spend the minimum requirement to be eligible for these additional funds.

#2 – Private Funding

A private backer has also agreed to match our Kickstarter funds in make additional stretch goals possible. However, we need to prove that the game has enough demand first by reaching our Kickstarter minimum funding goal.

This means if we can just reach our $50k minimum funding goal, we will now able to deliver all of our stretch goals up to $100k, including:

  • Playable Tutorial Mission
  • Separate Wampus Mini-Game
  • 4 Additional Playable Races
  • Android support (tablets and phones!)
  • iOS LD support (tablets and older iPhones!)
  • Prospecter Game Mode
  • Random World Events
  • Auction Mini-Game

We’re really happy about what this means, as this really makes Alpha Colony a more complete game. However, it’s still all or nothing, so if we don’t make our minimum funding goal we won’t get any of our backer’s money, any money from the state of Colorado or any money from our private backer.

Matching funds apply toward future stretch goals too!

Best of all, this matching goes above and beyond our minimum goal and will apply to all future stretch goals as well. Now that your money goes further, it’s more important than ever to like, share and tell your friends and family about our project. Let’s get Alpha Colony funded!

50% funded!

Thank you all for your support in reaching 50% of our funding goal!

I know with the previous holiday week, our team and many of you were busy with family so it was a slow week for fundraising.  This week we have some exciting developments to share every day so we can push to meet our goal during our final week of funding!

Android Support for Alpha Colony!

Here at Alpha Colony, we wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.  As our US-based team sits down with our own families this holiday, we'll count all of your support as one of our many blessings.  I feel so honored to be a part of this project, and you've helped us come so far.

We came up with an idea to thank you, in the form of unlocking Alpha Colony for Android early.  This is going to be a little extra work, and require a lot of extra testing, but we've been talking about it with our team and everyone's on board to make a little sacrifice for our Android fans. In order to make this happen, all you have to do is help show us that you think it's worth it too by 'like'ing our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Alpha-Colony-Videogame-Kickstarter/408341812520382

If we reach 500 likes by Thanksgiving, we'll unlock Android early.  We put a lot of thought into our stretch goals, and know that it's not the most popular platform.  But we'd really like to support the Android community the way you've supported us.  And for those of you who aren't interested in Android, we've got a treat for you as well.  Everyone who has liked our page by Thanksgiving will also be automatically entered to win one of 3 Alpha Colony goodie bags!  Please like and share, to help make it happen and win some free swag! It's a win-win.

We'd also like to include a heartfelt shout-out to  our backer, and creator of a board game called Data Fortress Nicholas Vitek. It will be Vitek's third published boardgame, and third Kickstar success. Data Fortress is a two-player game that pits Hacker against Admin in a cyberpunk world. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1253203485/data-fortress-hacking-and-tiles?ref=category

First of many updates, detail on the trading phase

We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend and gave thanks to service men and women that have given their lives to defend freedom throughout the world. It has been a quiet weekend but we have many new developments planned to share this week!

We have received some great feedback on the trading phase. This is one of the aspects of Alpha Colony that our team is most excited about because we believe it will result in some interesting short-term/long-term tradeoff choices and that is often at the heart of what makes these games fun.

Many of you had questions and asked for further explanation so our game design intern, Cooper, has put together a video that explains how the trading will work in much greater detail.

What do you think?
