LONESOME CITY: A Fine-Art Photobook
$24,005
238

Lonesome City —the first monograph by Los Angeles-based photographer David Ingraham— is the culmination of over five years of extensive photo-shooting in the streets of Los Angeles as well as other cities around the globe.
This collection of images can be viewed as a visual meditation on the universal theme of urban isolation and disconnection; a glimpse into the dark heart of the big city and what it feels like to be immersed in the vast ocean of humanity that is synonymous with the metropolitan experience, while at the same time feeling alone, alienated, detached from it all.

Conceptualized and designed by the photographer, this book will be produced in an edition of 700 copies, printed in rich duotone on high-end matt paper with a printed-wrap hardcover. (75 copies will be made available as special limited collector's editions.)

8.5 x 11 inches with approximately 100 pages and 48 monochrome images.

“In this digital day and age where most of the images we see on a daily basis are viewed on a computer screen or smartphone, I believe now more than ever that good photography is most at home on the printed page."

"When faced with the glut of online imagery these days, we tend to skim over photos, taking them for granted, knowing there are millions more awaiting. But sitting down with a beautifully-designed and crafted book of photography can be a meditative, tactile experience, causing us to slow down and experience the work on a deeper level."

"As someone who has amassed a relatively-large collection of fine-art photography books over the years, it’s been a dream of mine to one day create and publish one of my own. But it’s only with your help that this dream can be made a reality.”
A message from David:

Reaching this specific financial goal should make it possible to hire a top-of-the-line U.S. printer, while also covering most costs involved with backers’ rewards, such as packaging, shipping, ink and paper for archival prints, as well as Kickstarter’s cut.

It's my hope that any funds raised beyond the initial goal will assure that I'm able to cover all costs and stay out of the red.

REWARDS PRINT CHOICES:
7x7 prints (choice of one with Collector's Edition book)

11x14 Prints (choice of one with Standard Edition/Large Print combo)

15x15 "COLLECTOR'S PACKAGE" Limited Edition Print choices:

- Note to potential supporters: If your post-holiday funds are tight, I feel your pain! But please keep in mind, any pledge you make towards this project will be charged to your card only if and when this campaign reaches its goal at the end of the 32 days. So we’re talking mid-February!
Also please keep in mind, Kickstarter is all or nothing! If I don’t reach my goal, I’ll have to dream up some other way of raising the funds. But with your help, we can make this happen!
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

Risks and challenges
As a touring musician, I will be on the road for an extended period from the beginning of March until mid-April, and then continuing intermittently throughout the summer and fall. So should this Kickstarter campaign be successful, the great challenge for me will be to time and coordinate the printing of the book in a way that will allow me to sufficiently communicate with the printer, fully proofing the work before going to press, not to mention being home when 700 books are delivered to my door step! (I’m self-publishing, so I will be sending each and every pre-ordered copy myself.)
Long-story-short, there may be a longer-than-desired delay between the closing of this Kickstarter campaign and the actual delivery of the product to supporters.
My hope is, with the help of an assistant or two, to have all pre-ordered copies of the book, along with prints and other rewards, delivered no later than late July/early August of 2018. Your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated!
