TARGET HIT AT THE START OF THE FINAL WEEK!!!
STRETCH GOALS ADDED!
Druid Investigations is a comic book set in modern day Great Britain, but not quite as we know it. It's the story of an ordinary insurance salesman, Killian Turner, who accidentally stumbles across the world of Magic and Monsters by crossing paths with the Wizard Merlin, who these days goes by the name Merle M. Rhys.
It's been a long time since Arthur was killed by his son Mordred at the Battle of Camlann. What's a wizard to do with his time?! Set up his own private investigation company of course!
The King may have gone to the Isle of Avalon and Mordred may be a fading memory too, but that hasn't stopped the monsters of Britain from going about their business. It's up to Merlin and his team to put a stop to them. Unfortunately, as Killian Turner is about to find out, sometimes ignorance is bliss.
The comic will be an action packed, fun filled adventure that will mix classic legend and mythology with the modern age. An Urban Fantasy in a 32 page, full colour, saddle stitched US format (170mm x 260mm) comic book that will introduce you to Killian Turner as his life is turned upside down by the Druid Investigations team that consists of:
Merlin: The Wizard of legend, now going by the name of Merle M. Rhys
Margaret "Mags" Pearson: the Padiham Witch. Mags joined Merlin in 1613 after being released from prison. She hasn't looked back since.
Lock: There's not much you need to know about Lock, other than he's a descendent of the Loch Ness Monster...
The comic is being produced by experienced Indie comic creators, Writer and Artist Dan Harris (Lou Scannon, The Pride, Metaverse, 10thology) and Letterer HdE (Lou Scannon, Broken Goddess Athena, Bulldog and Panda and about a million other titles too)
I'm relatively new to Kickstarter but in the time I've been on here I have followed and backed some great projects, some of which include comic books and graphic novels. In an ideal world I would love to be able to fund the project myself, however it's a lot of money and to get this book put together and out there I've turned to Kickstarter and it's lovely community.
The entirety of the Kickstarter target is going towards putting the book together. I work as a full time artist but this book is a labour of love for me that I've been working on in between jobs and drawing my other comic, Lou Scannon. So all the costs are going towards paying for the printing, lettering, Kickstarter rewards and fees etc.
The entire comic is pencilled and inked. Half of it is fully coloured and the lettering, as you can see from the above images, has been started. With this taken into account if I achieve my target I should be able to get the finished product out to people for February 2016!
There are lots of cool options for those who choose to back the project. From a variety of different prints to sketchcards, sketched and inked commissions, original comic pages and digitally coloured commissions!
Here's a breakdown of everything that's available to you for backing the project!
We also have a few stretch goals in mind, though we don't want to test our luck. Suffice to say we want to bring you a fantastic comic book and we hope you'll consider helping us do so.
Risks and challenges
Having worked on and produced other small press titles in the past, I am well aware of what it takes to get something like this done. In fact the entire comic is already drawn and inked and is currently over half way through the colouring process!
Everything is priced up and just about ready to go. The main thing missing right now is the funds. This is where you guys come in! I'm hoping that, with your support, I can realise a dream of mine and achieve funding! With that, I can get this off the ground and out to you shortly afterwards.
