Kickstarter ROUND 2

Hello Everybody!

Thanks again for your support last year with A Place to Stand. Not a lot has changed production-wise with the film since we wrote you last. We have been focusing on fundraising and building the team necessary to complete the project.

The biggest and most exciting news as of late is that 10-time Emmy-winning documentary Director and Producer David Grubin has signed on as our Executive Producer and 5-time Emmy-winning Cinematographer Dyanna Taylor has signed on as our Director of Photography. They, along with the rest of our growing team, are a guarantee that this film will indeed fulfill its potential.

Fundraising-wise, we are days away from launching our second and final Kickstarter campaign. This one, for $50,000, will give us everything we need to finish production and take the film all the way to a rough cut. As our goal is significantly higher than last time, we can use all of your help in spreading the word and recruiting people to support the project.

As soon as the new campaign is launched, we will be in touch again. Until then, know that our deep thanks for your early support continues.

With Gratitude,
Daniel Glick and Gabe Baca

Happy New Year!

Hi Friends,

It is 2012 and we are determined to finish A Place to Stand this year.

We made incredible progress in 2011. Watching the rough cut of the film, which is just the story constructed out of our complete interviews, is extremely heartening. Jimmy's story is translating fantastically to film. The 70 minute cut, without any flash or pomp, flies by.

If you haven't seen it, here's an extended trailer that will give you a sense of the growth of the project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=odE6Io-DEAE

Our obstacle right now is another round of fundraising. To complete the project and make it as powerful, compelling and captivating as possible we need to raise a healthy $210,000. That's a lot by normal standards, but not much by film budget standards.

To reach this $200k goal, we're changing the game up. We're making the film a business venture and seeking investors. No more donations. And on top of that, Daniel, the director, is going to be hitting the road hunting for funding leads in person, driving from city to city. He will be making old school, face-to-face efforts.

You can help this phase of the project by giving us leads for funding. Do you know people who might be interested in investing in this film? Do you know people who know people who might be interested in investing? We are open to any tiny mustard seed of a lead, no matter how small or improbable.

Daniel will be contacting you all individually within the next week or two with our investor's packet and business plan. We look forward to your feedback and support.

Happy new year!

Sincerely,
The A Place to Stand Team
