I'm John Lepper, current owner and writer at theblood-shed.com. I and my fellow writers Wiki, Melissa, Mi Chelle, Maskman X, Dylan, Honey Badger, Shyla, and Michael aim to bring horror fans a high quality horror news experience specializing in news, reviews, interviews, opinion pieces, and more!
We have been active in our current iteration for three months. In its first year, a niche site like our is expected to average 100 unique views a day. If it can manage to average 700 or more in its first year, it is considered a "success", if it can average 1000 or more, it is considered a "staggering success". Here's our analytics for our three month old site:
As you can see, for the past two months, we have averaged about 43k unique views per month. That is well over 1000 per day average. In fact, if you look at it all together, we average nearly 30k per month right from the start! 88k views over a 90 day period! We ARE a staggering success.
But we need to expand. We need to advertise. We need to get our name out there if we are ever to compete with horror sites that have a decade head start on us. That's where you come in. We are not yet at the point where we can monetize the site and make money through ad revenue. We need to get our funds from somewhere else. So, if you are as passionate about horror as we are, check out our site! If you like what you see, please consider contributing! Anything you can do will help! And we are all about the readers! If you can think of a perk package that you want that we don't have listed, let us know! We'll see what we can do!
Risks and challenges
Advertising is expensiveve and we don't have the excess income to pay for it ourselves.
We are also currently in the midst of a restructuring after the prior owner stepped down due to unforeseen circumstances.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
