Whether we get funded or not we will be continuing our Early Access Launch in May 2019! The kickstarter would help bolster our budget and speed up our development otherwise our early access will last a bit longer and the cool rewards and plushies won't be manufactured!

Super Powered Battle Friends is a platform fighter currently built for Windows and Linux but coming later to Nintendo Switch. Featuring local offline multiplayer and online multiplayer so you can play with your friends whether they are close or abroad! Super Powered Battle Friends is here to hold it's own in the realm of platform fighters.
SPBF started out as a little idea in our heads when we would get together with our friends and loved ones to play some local multiplayer games at gatherings or local LAN parties. It first planted its roots in our hearts as a LAN exclusive title we could play with our friends. This was all good fun but one day while steam greenlight was still kicking we decided to throw it up on there and see what the community thought of it.
In just 13 days we were accepted on steam greenlight! Suddenly we realized we had something special and we could take our design, iterate and improve upon it and give it back to the community that accepted us so quickly. We heard the requests for online multiplayer and started working towards that. We started improving our character art and designs and we hired a couple of extra hands with our own funds since 2 of us are full-time students in college and can only put in so many hours a day. Things picked up and just like that we suddenly had a small and humble team of developers and collaborators.
Also included in this vision are a few key features we will not compromise on:
- Persistent in-game profiles with stats & ranks
- Steam workshop & mod support
- Large variety of game modes
- Solid, fun and smooth game-play
- Free content updates (Characters, Stages, Modes, doesn't matter, always FREE)
Thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 4, We plan to support mods (Hello Steam Workshop!) With mods, you will have the ability to create your own characters and/or stages! These mods will be usable in every local game-mode as well as private online lobbies.
Mod Support will be included in the full game, not the Early Access version.
With Super Powered Battle Friends we want to expand the way people experience platform fighters. Beating your friends in a crazy 4 player free for all is lots of fun, and there is nothing quite like the adrenaline pumping action of 1-on-1 battles! But we want to go even further than that! Let's add King of the Hill into the mix, or how about Capture the Flag? What if we took that even further with 4 on 4 variants of those? And on larger maps with split screen enabled modes? With Unreal Engine 4, we can make all of this a reality.

The mastermind behind Super Powered Battle Friends. Brendan is our main developer, the lead destroyer of bugs and is always actively working to improve his skill set so that he may one day be one of the greats.

Without the pixel prowess of Jordan, our character roster would all be pretty boring to watch fight in battle. His preferred "feel the pixels" approach to animations keeps the Battle Friends looking fancy.

A jack of all trades, Derek fills in the spaces Jordan and Brendan can't reach. Everything from character balancing, Hitboxes and even the buttons that make up our main menu. Derek handles the background stuff that most people overlook. The character roster wouldn't look the way they do without him.

Risks and challenges
There are inherent risks in any given project. We have been working hard on this game for multiple years now, and that isn’t going to change anytime soon however, unforeseen problems can arise. We are confident in our ability to think ahead, and that includes a few contingency plans for if things go a little off course. The team is more than prepared to take this project through to the very end. As the saying goes, We work hard no matter rain, sleet, or snow.
