Android/PC Mass Multiplayer Online Racing Game with almost limitless customization to vehicles
About this project
Ever wondered why tablet gaming looks so great nowadays, yet lacks the content that console games we have grown to enjoy..? why is it that not a single company has made a free roam -sandbox style racing game for Android? obviously the hardware can support it.. so why? because companies strive to make money.. This game will be the first of its kind on the play store. not only will you be able to race online with your friends but you will be able to do many different types of events.. for instance.. circuit racing,point to point racing,Destruction derby,stunt challenges,team racing,tag-team drag races,drift competitions,as well as car shows where players can show off their customized work of art and compete for prizes every weekend..
Oh yeah, when we say customized we mean it too.. from spoilers and bumpers ,to cylinder heads and pistons ,turbos, tire smoke color changes, colored smoke trails while jumping, I plan to make this very customizable.. and i accomplish this with my inventive new sphere grid evolution system.. with the ability for new parts to be added to the game every week there will always be new content for users to enjoy.
The biggest part of this project is the free roam aspect. nowadays players of mobile games are limited to several tracks to race on with little to no variation. Gear head racing will be expandable. crossing a bridge to a new city will bring players to a new server with new challenges and new player to challenge and a completely different environment to dive into.
because this game is being developed in Unity 3D it will also be playable on PC. players will be given the option to download the game to PC with a bar code where they will be able to use thier android devices as a steering wheel and gps navigation as well. this will give these players the ability to plot race waypoints on the fly.
I have been able to code and design quite a bit of this just on my free time.. but working full time at another job keeps me from completing this project. with this funding i will be able to begin my career as a game designer and complete this project to move mobile gaming into the realm of console gaming.
Risks and challenges
creating a game for mobile devices is no small feat. when it comes to obstacles i will face when creating this game there have been and will be many things that cause a bump in the schedule. a few specific hurdles i will face would be in the networking end of creation. As i do have plenty of experience with java and unity this is not impossible. but a lot of things involved in networking are new to me. just the same as any type of programming it involves learning new script procedures and tweaking them to a usable state.however this is not the obstacle i cannot overcome with more time.. which is where the idea for this kickstarter project came to light. with the funding earned through kickstarter i will not only be able to build servers but i will also be given more time to dedicate to this project. currently i work a full time job not related to my passion of video games and all things digital. this being my greatest hurdle. My job involves me driving anywhere to 5 hours away from home. from that point i drive to 3-5 other locations and then back home.. all while spending 1-3 hrs at each house. this is very time consuming. Given the funding i will be able to dedicate all of my free time to this project and give it my full attention. i have full intentions of making this project happen whether i receive the funding or not. this project has been my dream for several years now and has grown into something that will be a ground breaking change to mobile racing games. when this project is complete i will step into the field of my dreams as a game developer and not just some guy who writes scripts for other developers to improve their apps. i will also be doing freelance 3D modeling part time 1-5 hrs per week to ensure that if a bump in the road happens i will be able to fund a solution if needed. between forums and other users i network with and your input we can make this the greatest mmo racing game to ever peak its head out of the play store. Lets make this happen!
