Our project is to build a brewery that produces exceptional local craft beer for novice and experienced beer enthusiasts. It will serve as a gathering place to build relationships within our community while fostering an appreciation for a locally created, amazing art form-beer.
CraftHaus Brewery will utilize a small batch, craft brewing system which allows us to focus on quality ingredients we source. The brewery will be the first open concept, brewery and taproom combination in Las Vegas. This means our guests can sit in our brewery lounge and view where their beer is created. Our guests can also sit down with our brewer and staff to hear the back story of what is inside their glass. With the help of talented brewing artists, CraftHaus Brewery beers will push boundaries.
Our beers are traditional, but tweaked. This means the beer will have a traditional backbone, but our creativity will be expressed by subtle and substantial tweaking. Beer has a long history and CraftHaus will honor it by respecting what came before us and yet leave our mark by elevating our craft.
The brewery plans to open late fall of 2013 in Henderson, Nevada, just minutes from Las Vegas.
The big idea
Co-owners and married couple of 14 years, Wyndee and Dave Forrest, conjured up the big idea for CraftHaus Brewery while traveling through Europe. They noticed that they were immersed in a beer culture where people take their time to enjoy quality beer just as much as they enjoy talking to one another.
When they returned home, Dave started homebrewing and the beast took hold. He loved learning about all the intricacies that brewing includes. The beast not only took over Dave, but their entire house as well. He also won the first Sierra Nevada Beer Camp competition in 2010 and basically was Charlie at Willie Wonka's chocolate factory. It was an opportunity which spurned them to figure out how to turn a passion into a profession.
Then, they dove into the industry and learned everything they could. They toured many inspiring breweries and met amazing generous people along the way. The camaraderie of the craft brewing industry is an inspiration and impetus for CraftHaus.

Wyndee Forrest is passionate about craft beer and its culture. She is so inspired by the worlds oldest beverage that she earned her Cicerone Beer Server certification. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor of science from the hospitality school with an emphasis in public relations and entertainment management.She developed her PR skills while working on the Las Vegas Strip with headlining entertainers, five-star chefs, restaurants, nightclubs and comedians.
Dave Forrest has been homebrewing for more than five years and has received local and national awards for his beers. He earned his certification as a Cicerone Beer Server and is a UNLV graduate with a bachelor of science in recreation. He has been working in guest services at a four diamond resort for the more than a decade.

Wyndee and Dave met in the Caribbean while working on the same cruise ship. Dave was running the children's program and Wyndee was a dancer in the shows. They have called the Las Vegas valley home for the last 12 years. They have three children who probably know more about beer than they should right now (no drinking of course!)
The brewery will offer a tap room for guests to enjoy their locally brewed beer. They will be able to view the working brewery and fermentation from the open concept layout. CraftHaus will also support fellow craft breweries by offering their beer in our taproom. Discover the faces behind the creation in your glass. Our guests will get to know the people who put their heart into each pint.
Our beers have a traditional style, but with a tweak. CraftHaus uses classic styles for inspiration and then bumps them up with a creative flair. The beers might have an unexpected herb or an interesting yeast strain to challenge your pallet. Beer has a long history and CraftHaus wants to honor it by respecting what came before us and yet leave our mark by elevating the craft.
Resinate is a beer we are proud to present which is CraftHaus' India Pale Ale. Take in the clean malt character while bright, citrusy hops resinate from within.
Evocation is a Saison brewed with ginger, coriander and orange peel. It is named after the first time Wyndee and Dave had their "a-ha" moment in Amsterdam. Beer should evoke feelings and memories, that is exactly what Evocation aims to do.
Charlie's Mantra is a Pale Ale and get its name from Dave's brewing inspiration, Charlie Papazian. Mr. Papazian is credited with starting the homebrewing movement and established the National Homebrewer's Association and The Brewer's Association. His mantra is "Relax, don't worry, have a homebrew." It is one of our favorite sayings when we are feeling stressed from this crazy ride.
Comrade is an Imperial Russian Stout. It uses whiskey from the Las Vegas Distillery and is aged on oak. This intense, dark and roasty creation will warm the coldest Siberian from the inside out.

If we over fund our goal by $5,000, we will purchase glorious, dank, previously fermented, wood barrels. The barrels can be from scotch, whiskey, red wine or white wine. These barrels will be used to age our beers into a metamorphosis of drinking pleasure. Barrels can give beer a sour or complex character.
Propagation of yeast is the harvesting and multiplying of yeast for use in fermentation of wort(beer before fermentation). We see our loyal members as multiplying like yeast until they become a living, breathing, beer beast of their own. Being part of the Propagation entitles you to the exclusive 64 oz. stainless steel growler from The Bräuler, and the insulating sleeve. The Bräuler will keep our brewery fresh beer carbonated and will not leak. Only members will be the proud owners of these shinning beauties! There will be a Propagation Indoctrination party at the brewery where some sort of blood ritual ceremony will ensue. The best part of membership? You are the first to get your hands on special release beers. Members have the opportunity to give us your feedback on pilot batches of beers. You will be invited for sensory evaluation of new beers, this means you will have a say in what comes out of our brewery and into your belly.
Starting a brewery is no easy task. We are proud of our progress over the last two years as we have researched and developed the concept for CraftHaus. We had a logo designed and a website to slap it on. We attended our largest industry conference last May, the Craft Brewers Conference which was held in San Diego. After wading through the trenches of site location, we finally found the perfect home for CraftHaus. Our general contractor has given us our bid for the build-out. We have decided on a brewery manufacturer from which we will be sourcing all of our shiny stainless steel. The City of Henderson is helping us navigate the tricky situation of zoning, codes and licenses. The Planning Commission also approved our taproom for on-site enjoyment of our beers and granted us generous operating hours! We made our debut at our first beer tasting event at our friend's brewery Big Dog's Brewing Co. and launched our Kickstarter campaign simultaneously at one of our largest craft beer tasting events: Great Vegas Festival of Beers.

We know there is still a long way to go and we are ready for the challenge. If anything has taught us to be resilient, it is the last two years. While we have the majority of our funding in place from a wonderful business partner and our own personal capital, we are in need of the last $20,000 to make a dream a reality.

Risks and challenges
As with any upstart, there are risks involved. Breweries are a capital intensive investment, mostly in stainless steel. There are many possible delays in our build out such as stalled TTB licensing, lengthy city licensing, and unforseen build out costs. We have taken the time to understand the risks involved by gathering as much information from experts in their fields, but understand there may be delays.
