Hello Dear Friends and Family of Artistic and Supportive Persuasion!
We are Human Fruit Bowl. And it has been our dream to bring this show to New York since its conception back in September of 2010. We've been lucky enough to have taken the show around the world to Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Prague, and to have won the Creative Award for best production in the Prague Fringe. And now, proudly, through terraNOVA Collective we bring it home in the soloNOVA Arts Festival, New York City's premier festival for solo performers! We can't imagine a better way to debut in NYC. As one of ten pieces we will be performing in 5 slots from June 8th to June 17th at the New Ohio Theater on Christopher St. in the West Village. terranovacollective.org
Human Fruit Bowl is a play that explores the dynamics between painters and their models while also looking at the power of the naked person in the room. Which means, yes, there is full nudity. Yay, naked!
We are here on Kickstarter because we need the help of our community to make our New York premiere a reality. It is an honor to have been selected as part of the soloNOVA Arts Festival. We couldn't have done any better, but we also cannot do it without you. The Festival provides the venue, all staffing, as well as all festival-wide marketing and PR, but there are expenses internal to our production that we must cover ourselves. We’ve minimized our expenses by rehearsing in Liam’s apartment, designing our show’s postcard ourselves, and more. Expenses we are fundraising to cover include: bathtub rental and transport, printing of postcards, projection design, among others.
Andrea, Liam, Liz and myself, Harmony, have been donating our time and energies to this show that we are so proud of. We've already taken it around the world and would love to share it with our friends and family in NYC!
Thank you for your time and interest and we hope to see you at the New Ohio Theater this June! You can buy your tickets here.
Best of the best,
Harmony Stempel (the Human Fruit Bowl), Andrea Kuchlewska (Playwright), Liam Billingham (Director) and Liz English (Producer)
