How getting naked in front of strangers can change your life.
Since summer 2010, we have been creating a show that explores the relationship between the painter and the model, and the apparent power of the "naked person in the room". The model becomes the most influential part of the painting process, and yet, literally sits still doing nothing.
What really inspired the playwright was the story of Pierre Bonnard and his model, Renee Monchaty, who apparently killed herself over his marriage to another woman. Every biographical snip-it of Bonnard has included his relationship with Renee but, oddly, no one biography gives the same information. Even something simple like what year she died and how is controversial, and yet she never fails to appear as a sentence in his life's story.
We are taking this show to the Prague Fringe Festival from May 27th-June 5th. It will be the first time Harmony has performed anything by herself. All three of us have been donating our time to research, rehearsals, rewrites, research, rehearsals, rewrites, for about 6 months.
While we need funds for the obvious things like getting the actor and director across an ocean, our show also requires less obvious things like: bathtub rental in Prague, a projector to put pretty art on the wall, and the participation fee which goes to the theater space while at the Fringe.
