ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Ceramic artist Carren Clarke-Mcadoo was invited to share her talents abroad with Artists 2 Africa, participating as a teacher on this tour representing her discipline of pottery. She is one of several artists throughout the U.S. invited to teach other creative mediums including: Jerome White (OH), Larry Poncho Brown (MD), Michelle Davis Petelinz (NC), Karen Y. Buster (MD), Tommy Roberts (MD), and Francine Harris (MD), to name a few. A noteworthy group of American artists exchanging creative education with African artists!
ARTISTS 2 AFRICA was birthed from decades of artists discussing the prospect of organizing a group journey to Africa tailored specifically for artists and focused on art education. On October 6-16, 2012 we will embark on our first official journey to Senegal West Africa & The Gambia!
The artists will journey into the art villages on the outskirts of Dakar. Various artisans including painters, sculptors, and weavers will be gathered in their workshops to create and collaborate. We will fellowship with the artists and students, visit their workshops to share technique, and explore the creative process, while exchanging our creative ideas with the artisans in the region. An exhibition will be organized featuring the works of each artist. Our focus is to educate and connect through ART.
HOW WILL YOUR FUNDS BE UTILIZED?
With Kickstarter and your support we hope you will assist us with this unified effort. As you can see on the right...the artist has graciously donated her art for pledge rewards. Funds will assist with art supplies, crafting tools and small equipment. We also plan to document this experience with photography and video as a future educational medium. We hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to assist with this project....thank you. Share.Teach.Create!
