A post-apocalyptic 1950's Britain, the world is covered in a poisonous gas but society struggles on, as it tries to convince itself nothing important has really changed.
Chock-full of oddball characters, The Fitzroy Comic explores this world through six twisted, confused and just plain weird tales.
The stories are...
- Claude and Marcel (Artist Will Kirkby)
- Dig (Artist Will Robson)
- Blatherington Manor (Artist Steve Howard)
- The Can (Artist Charlie Hodgson)
- Jonsin' (Artist Patrik Lindberg)
- The Hammer (Artist Scott Cooper)
Wahooo! Thank you all so much. We've hit our target and have unlocked a series of stretch goals to make the comic even better!
If we get to £6K we will then unveil the next stretch goal.
The story behind the comic
Thanks to the generous support and backing of the Kickstarter community, we have been able to make our first feature film The Fitzroy.
While making a micro budget film has been a heck of an adventure, there were certain things we just couldn't put in the film.
Throughout the film we would often talk about the stories beyond the edges of the screen. What would it be like if you could walk around in this world we had created - discover some of the other characters and stories?
That's when we got talking to Dead Canary Comics.
These guys love comics, and more importantly know how to produce a kick-ass product. In collaboration with them, we have have created an anthology of six stories (each 4 to 5 pages) that fit into and expand the world of The Fitzroy.
These aren't prequels and you don't need to see the film to enjoy them. They are self-contained stories set in the larger universe of The Fitzroy.
What We Need
There's nothing quite like a physical comic and we'd love to make this into a real product. The stories are already written and illustrated, we just need your help to do the first print run!
Dead Canary Comics
The Fitzroy Comic is being produced by Dead Canary Comics.
Dead Canary Comics is a brave new comic book production company. They've already made a splash in the pond with their Frogman series (yes that pun was intended) as well as the trippy Cosmic Fish and baseball bat wielding Trained Medic. They love comics and know how to produce them!
The Fitzroy feature film is currently in post-production and due for completion in the Autumn of 2014. Funded through Kickstarter, it has been a labour of love for everyone involved.
To find out more about the film, sign up to our newsletter on our website.
Please note the date of estimated delivery under the rewards refers only to the comic. Delivery of the film will be further down the line and potentially dependent on which region of the world you are in.
Risks and challenges
Because The Fitzroy comic is already written and illustrated, there really is very little risk involved.
We just need to add the names into the credits and we can hit 'Go' and start printing (as long as we reach the target!).
If, for any unforeseen reason, printing or delivery is delayed, we'll keep everybody up to date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
