Cubeloid introduces a new puzzle format for desktop and mobile. The goal is simple: reconstruct two connected images simultaneously in 3D space. The gameplay is new, innovative, and expands the puzzle genre. Brain-bending puzzles are augmented with fun challenge elements like fuzz blocks and spin attacks. A truly new 3D puzzler is on its way.
The majority of funds raised go to art production. Throughout the page you can see some examples of the digital illustrations that work well with Cubeloid's puzzle mechanic. You will also be able to add your own photos to create customized puzzles.
Another big art task is creating a beautiful, unique menu system. Our graphics designer will produce stylized overlays for various segments of the game that integrate with our clean, modern style
After art, funds go toward integrating these additions in code, and expanding the basic game engine with challenge elements: Fuzz-Block, Freeze-Block, Spin-Attack and more.
This is a Quadraloid, the most basic puzzle you will see in Cubeloid. Only four cubes- seems deceptively simple.
The Novaloid steps it up, clocking in at 9 cubes. Possible puzzle solutions are more than septupled at this level.
The largest puzzle type is the Hexaloid. This brain twister has 16 cubes, and with over 64 cube positions, the challenge is on.
The Fuzz-Block is an elementary challenge, simple but effective. It obscures your view of one or both sides of a cube.
Freeze-Blocks present a spatial challenge. These cubes freeze in place, and you are forced to solve the rest of puzzle maneuvering around the frozen block(s).
Some levels will be given the additional challenge of a Timer. With the controls already near-perfect, the real hurdle here will be thinking and moving fast enough.
Chained-Levels will contain multiple puzzles to solve one after another. This is an especially fun surprise when there is a time limit.
Animations will either make it in Cubeloid as an occasional challenge element or as the default puzzle type for all images depending on how we hit out stretch goals (see below).
This puzzle element, Spin-Attack, is probably the most difficult in the game, but that is easily made up for by being the coolest looking challenge as well. When in Spin-Attackmode, the cubeloid you are solving begins to rotate, and the only way to stop it? Solve it.
If you scroll down to our stretch goals you will see the first one is the Blitz-Block. This cube has a problem sitting still and randomly shoots out of position knocking about other cubes as it goes.
CONTROLS
User input is simple and elegant- drag cubes to correct positions and click or tap to rotate. Controls have been optimized to be fluid and fast on all platforms. Play with one thumb on mobile.

Risks and challenges
The main risk with all games is completing the engineering: design and code. The core game engine for Cubeloid is complete. Your help will allow us to fill it with beautiful, interactive art plus extend it with additional trick attacks and difficulty scaling. Our project lead is a full-time game developer who has contributed to over a dozen shipped apps, with more than 1 million downloads.
To help alleviate this risk and challenge for others, please see our favorite stretch goal- Open Sourcing Our Code! We really hope to reach this level of community involvement to give other game developers a leg-up on their creative iOS projects and giving back to our supportive community as a whole.
