Help Manga Reborn localize and release these ten great manga titles!
Would you like to read through 260,000 pages, or 1,300 chapters of popular manga, including Shonen Jump titles, in English? Well this is your chance!
We want to localize and release these ten titles digitally, so that they are available for viewing online and download, but we lack the funds to do it. All the contribution we accept through this drive will be used to acquire and localize the following featured titles. (We'll handle all the work with our staff!)
These titles have been successful in Japan but have never been published elsewhere.
If you're a fan of Japanese manga, you may already know that Japanese publishers are extremely conservative when it comes to manga artists and their titles. Lots of quality manga are buried quietly without ever seeing the light of day outside of Japan. World famous titles like One Piece, Bleach and Naruto are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the full repertoire of exciting stories that the manga world has to offer. From a marketing perspective, publishing companies are simply too afraid of the risks involved in localizing their entire selection of manga and releasing it worldwide.
If we wait too long, these great titles will be lost in time and never get their chance to shine around the world. This is where Manga Reborn comes in! As a site, Manga Reborn recruits manga fans who can speak Japanese and foreign languages and allows them to legally translate and scanlate manga titles so that they can be read worldwide. Of course, scanlators and translators will see their names featured in official releases of the manga they choose to help work on.
All donations that we receive will be used to find and recruit the best localization team, contact authors, license new manga, and turn this manga into digital content. If you would like to help this project be successful, then please pledge! Additionally, if you would like to contribute to our project in a creative way, through translation, scanlation, or proofreading, then please register as a member on Manga Reborn and show us what you've got!

On March 14, Jmanga.com, a manga website that united many Japanese publishers in an attempt to branch out to non-Japanese readers, announced that it was ceasing sales (March 13) and removing all viewable content (May 30). Square Enix, which had been providing digital manga to Northern American and France, also pulled out of the business on April 25. But as many big Japanese publishers begin to shy away from the international market, we have confidence that we can succeed at our goals.
Many suggested that the reason for the continuing failures with digital manga sales were due to a lack of serious marketing, as well as the fact that large publishers seem to belittle fans with their policies. We agree with them.
It's true that some fans of Japanese manga have grown up reading illegal scanlations. Fans translated illegally-uploaded manga into English, shared it on the internet for all to read, and inadvertently raised up a large number of new fans.
Looking at it from another perspective, this means that the scope of the market is still widening, and there is much room for further development and creation. Lately, Japanese people like to use the word "Cool Japan" to describe aspects of the country that seem appealing, and we believe there isn't anything more deserving of that title than Japanese manga. There are some big hits that have been made into anime, but those series, like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Slam Dunk, are a very small percent of the whole.
Manga fans around the world have worked very hard to share the love, but how did Japanese publishers approach them? "Hey, all you people out there reading illegal manga, we're the ones who actually own all that! We're going to start releasing our stuff at proper prices with DRM protection now, so buy it and be grateful!" The backlash should have been no surprise.
Yes, there may have been illegal activities involved in manga's rise in popularity around the world. But through that rise, publishers gained a wealth of possible customers without having to lift a finger. Maybe they're the ones who should be grateful.
Maybe, instead, they should have said "We are extremely grateful that there are people who would go that far out of their way to read Japanese manga. We've prepared digital data of our manga that you can enjoy without worrying about any legal problems, so please come check it out."
That's what we're trying to achieve with Manga Reborn. Of course, we've had our share of backlash, but we hope to gradually better ourselves while building up our community. This is our first step forward, and we look forward to walking together with you toward a new age of manga.
You can request original art from any artist on our site, however, we cannot guarantee that they will agree to draw the art. If they decline, we will ask you to please choose another artist.
Manga Poverty, Sato Shuho's novel, will be downloadable. The manga itself can be read online only. We're very proud of our online viewer so we hope you can enjoy using it!
The average size of manga featured on the site is width 800 ~ 900px, height 1200 ~ 1400px, and the quality is on average, around 200dpi. We will be providing high quality scanlations of all ten series.
In our online viewer, manga can be viewed through window mode or full screen mode, allowing you to view the manga as you please.
