The Lucid Filter - An Urban Fantasy Series
A paranormal investigation group unwittingly releases the vengeful spirit of a dead witch during a staged haunting.
A group of college students wield arcane powers in a struggle to protect their sleepy New England town from demon-summoning occultists and eldritch horrors. Serial entrepreneur Becky Carter founded the Paranormal Research and Containment Society, along with a reality-style web show called "The Lucid Filter". The web show is styled after typical ghost hunting / paranormal investigation shows, with the added feature of it including actual paranormal events mixed in with staged hauntings.
The pilot episode involves the group performing an investigation on a mansion, and while they're prepared to fake a haunting, a malevolent spirit is released. Tensions in the group quickly rise, and the spirit possesses members of the group, causing them to attack each other.
The pilot is scripted at 25 pages and expected to have a runtime of 30 minutes.
Beyond the Pilot
I'm working on a full series bible for the setting, and the hooks present in the pilot will serve as a springboard for future episodes dealing with the origin of the spirit, and the lasting consequences of their actions. In addition, episodes dedicated to backstory will be present, and I currently have four episodic scripts written.
Bad Astrology was made in 2015 over the course of three months, starring Cassidy, Regan, and Branwen.
Since then, the setting has evolved and developed into a much larger world, taking place within the sleepy New England town of Quiet Mountain.
Where's all the money go?
This is the proposed budget for the pilot.

Risks and challenges
Creating a narrative story is challenging and the path is littered with roadblocks. Cast and crew can get sick, equipment breaks down, bad weather can interrupt shoots, and basically, anything that can go wrong just might.
We're on a tight production schedule slated over the course of three days, while props and costumes need to be made in a short period of time. To ensure this happens, the director is putting his own money up-front to take care of the most pressing costs, and with Kickstarter, it's all of nothing - either we raise the funds, or we don't get a dime from our contributors.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
