About this project
You will help fund the 2013 theatrical run of Dan Chan the Magic Man and Kat the Acrobat at community theaters in the San Francisco Bay Area. The main focus of these performances will be Bian Lian a priceless three century old National Chinese Treasure from Chinese Sichuan Opera. Each face change represents a different character, and each character will assume a unique stance, walk and characteristic body posture. Bian Lian is traditionally kept only in the family, only taught from father to son. Also featured will be feats of pickpocketing and close-up magic.
In January of 2009, Dan moved to Asia to learn this secretive art form from a Bian Lian Master. After studying day and night for what seemed like a decade – he’d mastered the 300 second living presentation art. The secret of Bian Lian is traditionally kept in the family, only taught from father to son. Bian Lian is so rare that Hong Kong pop singer Andy Lau learned Bian Lian from a master only after paying the master $360,000.00 US Dollars.
The funds will be used to advertise the show online and also purchase necessary theatrical props to ensure this projects success.
