In an effort to show my appreciation and deep gratitude I am going to be delivering an original pastel painting upon funding to everyone who has contributed 100. and more. The originals will be simple landscapes, size 8x10, signed and mailed unframed. It is my hope that this little piece of art will always serve as a reminder of the importance of community and a symbol of the close connection you all share to this little film with a big heart.

Story Summary: A Fish Tale, is a story about Kate, a quiet, detached underachiever simply living day to day. Kate works at Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party. Dr. Bombay’s is truly a magical place. It is here that she meets a little girl, Amelia, who trades her a fish for ice cream. Amelia tells Kate that she can tell the fish one secret. Kate, wanting desperately to believe in magic, whispers her secrets to the fish from the depths of her nightly bath, and finds herself transported through time to visit moments from her past. Kate becomes intrigued by this portal and visits twice more. In the end, Kate learns how opening up to others, if only to a little girl and a fish, can change her life and maybe even her past.

PRE-PRODUCTION: Is in full swing. We are budgeted and scheduled. We’re excited to get closer to meeting our financial goal so we can start to book and commit to the people and elements necessary to make this the best that it can be. 

PRODUCTION: We will require six shoot days for this project. We are a very disciplined group of people and barring any unforeseen obstacles, we are confident that we will complete shooting in August 2013.

POST PRODUCTION: Will begin immediately after production. We plan to be completed by end of October 2013 at the latest. 

TECHNICAL AND VFX: Below is a list of gear, and even more tasty, a list of post-editing software we’ll be utilizing for a great production.

TIPS AND TRICKS WEBSITE:  The bigger picture. We aren't just interested in making a film for oursleves. The tips and tricks we garner through this filmmaking process will become available to everyone and anyone interested in their own project. We are passionate about sharing our insider knowledge with anyone who wants to know how make great stories. Our website will of course include everything we've learned in this production but will live on far beyond this one project. We want to create a community and knowledge base for learning and connecting.

WHY WE NEED YOU:  Why are we trying to raise $45,000? In order to make this film the right way we need to make sure all of the details are both believable and magical. The world we are creating will involve a significant discipline and planning for every second of footage that we capture. We believe this in turn will make this film something very special. We have already spent over six months crafting this story and pulling together a small passionate crew. Now we need to bring in the many people who will help bring this to life. Due to the highly specialized nature of creating believable visual effects in our film we’re calling on very specialized talents. In addition we’ll be bringing on board professional sound design and color grading in post-production. We also want to take good care of our crew since many of them are working for free. So we’ll need to feed them, which for six full shoot days and more than a dozen extras adds up.

 A QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE BUDGET: The following budget is approximate and meant to provide a sense of perspective, as it relates to our funding goal. 

$16,000 Crew: Although a significant portion of us are not taking any payment for our time, there are quite a few key positions that we will need to pay. These are the talented professionals who make their living making films. From Line Producer, to First AD, a B camera, camera assistant, Best Boy, Gaffers, and Continuity Supervisor are just a few of the positions that we will be paying. 

$8,000 Location fees and insurance. We have three locations in our film. One of them plays a critical role in our story. This means we will be closing Dr. Bombay’s for two, possibly 3 full days. Shutting down a business in a vibrant neighborhood costs money. Insurance: yup, even small films pay million dollar policies to ensure that all is good on set. Are we in the wrong business? 

$1,500 Lights, Camera, Crane, Dolly, just to name a few of the pieces of equipment we’ll be renting. We own some but not everything we need. 

$5,000
Art Direction: Props, construction, wardrobe, make up and styling. Every teacup and saucer, every cake, cup cake and sandwich, needs to be thought out, planned, created and styled. And that’s just the food. Our art department will include wardrobe and make up.

$3,000 Catering: on at least two of our shoot days we’ll have over 30 people needing breakfast, lunch and dinner. And we mean need. Shoot days are exciting and exhausting since they usually run 12-15 hours. We need to provide fuel for these people since many will be donating their time.  

7,000 Post production. This includes editing, sound design, color grading and original music scores. 

$4,500 Marketing Platforms: In order to get the word out, we need to promote our project. How do you think we found you? We also need to create the posters, print the tee shirts, and all of the other incentives you'll be getting!

We are a group of professionals. We've made many videos for clients in our long advertising careers and we are passionate about this.
