In 1980, some dedicated friends and I found enough heirloom varieties to start a non-profit seed company called Garden City Seeds. We dedicated it to regional self-reliance, teaching seed saving and the preservation of genetic diversity. In the beginning, we wanted to apprentice or work in a place that could help us. We never found it. We started anyway with support from many incredible people.
