SPLOOSH is a brilliant new fun family game with a big difference. Where taking on challenges to win tokens lets you give your friends and family a soaking!
Take on and win the challenges to control the tiny SPLOOSH Cup of water and SPLOOSH your fellow players. Challenges include doing impressions, drawing small pictures, and whistling or humming famous songs.
The game is designed to be simple and above all fun!
Can easily be played both indoors and outdoors!
Children aged 8 and up can play the game. However, children younger than 8 could still play with some help.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!
- 120 Challenge Cards
- 25 SPLOOSH Cards
- A Small 30 Second Sand Timer
- A Silicone SPLOOSH Cup
- A Small Water Bottle
- 15 SPLOOSH Tokens
HOW TO PLAY SPLOOSH?
Set up the game by shuffling the Challenge Cards. Add the SPLOOSH Cards, Counters and Timer to the centre of your playing area and fill the SPLOOSH Bottle with water and use it to fill the SPLOOSH cup. You should play in an area away from anything that might be damaged by splashing water.
There are 120 Challenge Cards and 25 SPLOOSH Cards. But only one SPLOOSH Cup so play hard to get it!
During the game you take turns to do Challenges with the other players to win SPLOOSH Tokens:
A player starts by taking the top Challenge Card from the pile.
They read the Challenge silently and then tell the other players what type of Challenge they are going to do e.g. “I’m going to do an Impression and I can’t make a sound, you need to try and guess what it is”.
There is a 30 second time limit for each Challenge, so when the player is ready to begin, turn-over the 30 second sand timer.
If the Answer to the Challenge is guessed correctly within the time limit, then the player doing the Challenge and the first Person to answer correctly, both receive a blue SPLOOSH Token.
Return the Challenge Card to the bottom of the pile and the next (clockwise) player picks up a Challenge Card.
Once a player has collected 3 SPLOOSH Tokens, they can trade them for a SPLOOSH Card. The SPLOOSH Card will instruct the player to throw a small amount of water (25ml) over one of the other players!
The game ends when the Small Water Bottle is empty. Or you can re-fill and keep playing!
Note – The total amount of water used in a whole game of SPLOOSH is approximately the same as a small serving of wine. And a typical game of SPLOOSH lasts between 45-60 minutes.
The game is really great fun to play and both kids and fun grown-ups love it.
There are 4 different types of Challenge Cards:
- Whistle or Hum – Tell the other players to try and guess the song that you are going to whistle or hum.
- Impressions – Tell the other players that you are going to do an impression without making a sound. They try to guess what it is.
- Draw Something – Use paper and a pencil to draw what the card tells you. The others have to guess what it is.
- Describe – Without saying the word on the card describe it to the others and they have to guess what it is.
THE TEAM AND HISTORY BEHIND SPLOOSH
I'm an entrepreneur living in Cambridge, UK with nearly 20 years experience in the toys, gifts, electronic games and gadgets industries. I have 3 children and as they grew up I made up lots of games for them to play. I really enjoy discovering gameplay elements and mechanics that enhance and thrill.
The team also includes my son (27) who has helped me develop the game, being the recipient of hundreds of SPLOOSH Cups of water to the face, and helping to launch this Kickstarter campaign.
I got the idea for SPLOOSH from an old parlour game that I saw played at a friend's house. The original game was one person thinking of a number between 1-10 and the others trying to avoid saying that number which would result in a glass of water being thrown over that person. No number guess could be repeated so inevitably the water would be thrown. I thought to make it better by introducing cards with activities to make the game more interactive and fun. I also lessened the amount of water to be thrown as the original game was becoming a bit of a water fest. And to make it safer, I had a silicon "cup" made which only holds a small amount of water. The game is great for families, as kids, parents and grandparents can all play together both indoors and outdoors.
FUNDING GOAL - WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO:
The game has already gone through extensive development and testing using fully playable prototype copies of the game. I then had 100 final products made (see box above). And I am now looking for funding to produce more retail versions in bulk.
Printing all the cards, and boxes and building the custom parts requires me to order in volume and it is for this that I need to raise the funding.
Risks and challenges
Since the first Kickstarter launch of SPLOOSH, many of the risks and challenges have already been overcome. Playable prototypes were made and rigorously tested. With artwork for the final box and cards already been designed, and suppliers for the other elements in the game found.
Challenges this time around consist of working rapidly and efficiently to successfully produce and ship SPLOOSH to Kickstarter backers by Christmas 2018 - this is not the case for the first 70 (early bird) backers which are guaranteed to receive their SPLOOSH game before Christmas.
